Way out tinfoil hat for Oct. surprise
Sitting here watching Pelican Brief (on TNT), and remembering how much this regime reminds me of the WH crew in this movie.

Pat Robertson has been "praying for Supreme court judges" so shrubbie could blame this on him. Buchco will have 2 Supremes killed and try to
try to pass off 2 Federalist Society hacks, when he realizes he's gonna lose. (If it isn't bushco, it could be a coalition of HMO, phamrasuetical, and defense related people who actually pay for the deed, and buy off Senators to pass the yahoos thru.)

Isn't It Too late for that now though?
I'd think that it would take several months to get a new justice installed.. 'course I don't know the procedure.. just assuming.

1. Not enough time to nominate replacements ...
* is still ticked he can't get some of his appointments to simple fed benches approved. No way to get 2 supremes through the system at this late date.

2. not sure what he gains
the current Supremes already put him into office once ... unless you're saying he knows he's going to lose and just wants to stack the court before he goes as a final "Cheney you" to the American people ... in any case, he'd never get anyone confirmed under those circumstances so close to the election, certainly not anyone the least bit controversial

3. That's what I'm saying
He or "they" would off say Ginsberg and Suitor. Can he do recess appointments of Supremes? They'd be in for a year or something like that...

4. Interesting commentary on Clear Channel talk-show in Houston this a.m.
The slanted, Bush-cheerleader host was saying, "I know you're disappointed in Bush, but you have to vote to reelect him, you can't just stay home, because you can't let John Kerry have the opportunity to appoint judges to the Supreme Court."

I'm thinking ... if that is the spin in HOUSTON RW radio, old Dumbya must be in a world of hurt.
