it's because he does it on a nationally-available television channel, available to all the world with cable. whoopie, however, made the mistake of telling her jokes at a private party attended exclusively by like-minded folk.

Droning on and on and on about it with mock outrage, or even a REAL cable NEWS channel pointing out that it's highly irrelevant.
Every now and then I flick to Foz (for a laugh) and it's amazed how big a deal they're making about someone making a fairly obvious (if not overly funny) remark about a presidential ticket including Bush & Dick.

and heard O'Lielly go off on Whoopi because (paraphrasing), "How dare she demean the president that way. Using derogatory and crude remarks against him is unforgivable. We must demand the tape!" I guess he forgot about some of the names Clinton was called during his time in office.
What a shame the White House can't bring it up anymore (thanks Mary Beth Cahill!)
