Why in hell is Bush's father supporting Ken Lay?
This is outrageous. A state was robbed and he was part of it. Is there any doubt left that Enron was/is more important to the Bush family than the people of America? It treasonous.

GW was trying to distance himself from Ken Lay and Enron, GHWB has sucked him back in.

What a disgrace.

1. Do you have a source for this?
If so, please provide. There's no doubt that Enron manipulated the California energy market, but, to date, George HW Bush hasn't been mentioned as an integral schemer in this.

How about a source document to indicate that he was.

Cheers.

4. check this out from Reuters
Ex-Pres Bush Sent Ken Lay A Supportive Note

LONDON, July 16 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara sent former Enron Corp. (ENRNQ.PK: Quote, Profile, Research) chairman Kenneth Lay word of their support after he was indicted on criminal charges, the Financial Times quoted Lay as saying in a report on Friday.

"They've sent word to us," Lay said in an interview with the newspaper, adding that public support from other erstwhile political friends had been scarce."

After all the millions he has stolen in his lifetime plus the millions his son has stolen, why doesn't he sit back and go fish? When is enough, enough? He isn't young as he use to be yet still obsessed with money? Give it up already.... :wtf:

6. I used to wonder about that too
I've known a few plenty-rich people in my 20 years in Silicon Valley, and many of them aren't in it for the money: it's for the game.

I saw Steve Wozniak tonight at a concert - he's one of the few who's managed to make some money, then spend his life enjoying it. Others, like Jobs, enjoy the material things they can acquire, but that's a small part of it. It's all about winning the nonsensical game.

11. They don't even know how to enjoy all the money
they already have. There is something else that drives Bu$h Sr. It is the lust for power and his hatred for the rest of us. That's why everything Bu$h & Co like to do is so destructive. Bu$h Sr and the rest of his clan are some of the most hateful, vengeful people in US history. They really wish the rest of us would just all drop dead and quit using up their resources.

20. I don't think he can give it up. And I think that's a clue.
If you're looking for shadow governments, Bush Sr. may be the weakest link because he has had such a high profile. And if there was a shadow government, I suspect it would be a multi-national kind of system. Ken Lay & Bush Sr.s involvement probably is necessary to keep the flow of money open.

Imagine the day someone blows this kind of secret wide open.

That's my conspiracy theory for the year. I think one a year is necessary to maintain membership in the Tinfoil Hat Society.

12. With a son like W, you learn to over look a lot of criminal behavior
SO if he can support his son, Ken Lay looks good by comparison.

13. Remember when he gave Ted Kennedy that award?
I think that was meant to be a slap in the face to his son, for the mess he's made of this country.

This might be more of the same, or it might just be a corrupt old man protecting his corrupt cronies.

14. To Be Honest...
I don't have a problem with bush sr. sending a note of support to lay. I think lay is guilty as hell and I hope he goes to prison. But, he hasn't been convicted and I'm a firm believer (a fanatic if you will) that a man is innocent until proven guilty.
I read people on this site all the time screaming about how someone is not guilty until convicted -- Guess what? It applies to ken lay too.

15. Ken Lay was the head of one of the most corrupt corporations in history
that negatively touched the lives of millions in one way or another.

Those facts are well established. No court case is necessary to determine them.

17. It does not change the fact that he has the same rights
as any U.S. citizen. He has not been convicted of any crime (hopefully he will be). To take any other approach is exceedingly dangerous. When you deny anyone their Rights, then you make it easier to strip others of those rights. That's way too slippery a slope to take. Hell, we give accused serial killers and accused child molesters their day in Court. lay is entitled to no less.

22. Exactly, we all know what happened to Baxter and O'Neil's cold feet
The Bushies are like the mob....they couldn't care less that Kenny Boy goes up the river. They'll find another bag man for Afghanistan and Iraq. Its the sense of honor and loyalty and keeping their dirt on the DL. In other words, Pappy Bush is Junior Soprano and he just making sure that Kenny boy doesn't bull an Adrianna or worse....a big Pussy.

Peace -
Cappa
