LA Times Letter: Wingnut Restaurant

A letter appearing in the LA Times "Calendar" Section yesterday recounted the restaurant going experience of a woman from Port Hueneme who had the misfortune of dining at an Oxnard eatery called Mrs. Olson's Coffee Hut one Sunday morning.

It seems that the owner's Sunday morning ritual is to interrupt the diners with a loud pro-war speech and then cajole everyone in the place to stand and sing along with a boombox rendition of "God Bless America" while the wait staff locks arms and sways back and forth.

I wish I was making this up. Food poisoning would be better than this kind of mind poisoning. Sick, sick, sick.

The owner is a loud, obnoxious freeper-type. He loves to insult his customers and spout wing-nut rhetoric. Goff put up a statue of Lenin in front of his restaurant with the caption "AMERICA WON."

BTW: The burgers suck, too.

I didn't know Mrs. Olsen's did stupid shit like that. But I'll say this: I'm NEVER eating there again! I can go get my artery-clogging Sunday breakfast at the Busy Bee or Roxbury Deli instead.
