African American Women are the Truth Tellers; Back them Up!
I have a news flash for some DU readers. The * administration thinks of this election as a war. They will do anything to win, and they have built a huge repertoire of dirty tricks over the years. One of their most reliable is racism. The entire modern Republican Party is built on the southern strategy, a strategy of racism. They have a history of racist practices and beliefs. Their racism is a matter of public record. For those of you who disagree, I suggest that because of the Republican Party's past practices, it is up to them to prove their good will in this area, not up to us to prove that they hold these beliefs. Will the * administration use racism to win this election? Only a fool would say no.

Because of Republican Party's well-known and well documented history of racism, African Americans, especially African American women, are the most strident of * attackers. Do they sometimes cross the line? Possibly, depending on your perspective. They certainly are not always polite, and they don't seem to respect the President very much. They aren't wishy-washy. However, I , for one, am tired of wishy-washy. If this is a war, with the terms set by the other side, we need fearless soldiers on our side. The opening of F9-11 reminded
us of that.

I feel that our party owes a debt of gratitude to these women. I believe that all progressives need to be more like them. I am tired of hearing people in OUR party worry about whether their attacks against * are genteel enough. We are turning on our best soldiers.

1. I agree. I don't always agree with the CBC or the AA Community
But you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

I believe I am going to telephone my support to Corrine Brown.

4. Oh hell no.
CENSURED?!

We need to get the names of the House members who voted to censure her, and barrage them with outrage! How DARE THEY?!

6. Yes, Corrine Brown of Florida.
She said 2000 was a coup d'etat and that the RepubliCONs stole the election - and they voted on party lines to scrub her comments from the record.

8. They are the truth tellers, almost the only ones
A Greek chorus to this travesty of a democracy.

11. Well put
That's why I don't understand some of the criticism I'm reading about them on DU, of all places.

9. Now you're talking sense! And sensibility, too.

I was ashamed to be white when the Congressional Black Caucus were the only ones in Congress to stand up and say that Gore had been elected, not Fortunate Son.

I was ashamed when Democrats turned against Cynthia McKinney because the right wingers were distorting what she actually said.

10. Cynthia McKinney
received no support from our party. Are we going to support our most loyal members now? Or are we going to take them for granted, and lose their support? The black caucus even stood up to Nader and told him where to go. Honestly, if we can't embrace these brave Americans who have been so discriminated against in the past, we don't deserve the term "progressive". And we don't deserve to win elections. Glad to hear you agree!:toast:
