9/11 report to propose big changes, panel members say
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The 9/11 commission's final report, scheduled to be made public next week, is expected to propose significant changes in how the U.S. government organizes intelligence agencies and how they interact, according to two panel members.

They told CNN on Thursday that the nearly 600-page report will be "compelling and authoritative."

Neither one would comment on whether the votes by the bipartisan, independent panel on recommendations were unanimous. One member said there was "healthy debate" in the crafting of the final report.

An official said commissioners have voted to approve most of the report, barring one section. The White House already is going through the rest to ensure nothing is published that it deems too sensitive.

1. Will it have anything on PNAC Presidents who want to invade
country's for their natural resources and take vacations 42% of the time?

Until we deal with the executive branch ulterior motives, no amount of reformation will make us (or the world) safer. A waste of time, this report is.

3. Makes the sheeple feel better though. They are "actively doing" something.

2. Oh good we get the report
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 02:28 PM by Marianne
but I thought that half of the testimony is not released, and secret and will be held from the public eye until after November. Is that true? What is going on?

4. I have as much faith that the forthcoming 9/11 report will effect change..
.. as I did in the Senate's impotent report blaming the Iraq War on the CIA and the CIA alone.

I'm beyond cynical in these "investigations." If the voters aren't given useful information they need to make a decision in November, what the hell good are these reports? They're all back-ended with a "protect the president" clause. :-(

6. They appoint the investigators, establish the parameters of what
will be investigated, they stonewall, they refuse to turn over documents, witnesses are accompanied by minders, others are threatened, marginalized, or smeared in the press, on and on ad infinitum. Then what the report the is written is in essence rewritten by the WH. What a waste of time and money. The victim's families know it. It is all BS. The recommendations that will come inadvertantly from the WH will be more restrictions on freedom and rights of the US citizens. I am sick to my stomach.

5. Oh, goody are they recommending REGIME CHANGE in the USA? That
is so good....
THIS SHOULD BE THE ONLY CONCLUSION THAT WOULD BE CORRECT AND ACCEPTABLE.
