The BBV issue would not be what it is today without DU!

I would like to shout out for all to hear that the very important issue of Black Box Voting would not be as big as it is today if it was not for folks at The Democratic Underground.

I followed this issue from the very beginning when it was just a baby and witnessed HUNDREDS of DUers nurture it to the monster it TODAY!

I myself participated by reading 1000's of posts and by sending hundreds of emails to politicians and the press. AND I mean hundreds of emails.

But... I still consider myself a minor player to the likes of DemA, Eloriel, Rebecca, David (Pub) and so many others who have made huge sacrifices for the cause.

I would be immature and silly if I did not mention Bev Harris. There's no denial that Bev was the spearhead for this courageous cause and no matter how I feel about certain things now, she was the leader, no doubt!

But this post isn't about Bev nor the events that have taken place recently in BBV land. NO...this post is about the unsung hero's of DU...The behind the scene folks who sent the emails or goggled their asses off for info to shape this important story.

There are those out there who will call us names, commies, conspiracy theorists, wackos,,,, I say "Cheney off" assholes. We will prevail and we will prevail because of the likes of the Democratic Underground.

The division now saddens me. The movement was so focused. I know that people have been hurt. I hope that everyone is able to set aside their differences for the CAUSE. I hope that the back-stabbing stops.

But let's also remember those who are not on DU at all, yet have asked to be on email lists and who respond to the voting issue all the time.

There are many more people out there beyond the bounds of DU.

No doubt, hats off to DU'ers for their work on this issue.

I just happen to have lists of people working their fingers to the bone on this issue, and who also research and contribute, who do not belong.

Everyone, inside or outside of DU, who cares about their country, cares and works about the voting machine issue.

BBV went from non-existant except for tech jounrnals and the odd news story to a weekly occurence.

DU acted as the materinty ward, nurturing the fledgling movement and providing the resources it need to learn and expand

My profound gratitude to Skinner et al at DU for putting up with us.
