heard just now on Crossfire, in discussing the way Hillary speaking at the convention was handled, Begala made this statement:
"...look, the Democrat Party made a mistake..."
I always thought t.carlson was supposed to be the repuke.
(edited to add evilgrin to point out the tongue-in-cheekiness of the post)

Republicans can't handle self criticism of themselves or their party.

3. It's the "Democrat" Party Thing |
|
Instead of Democratic. That's how the Freepers refer to us, although they usually emphasize the RAT part. It's their attempt at wit.

8. it's not a question of the criticism... |
|
It's the choice of word he used in naming the political party in question-
"Democrat Party" is the repuke smart-ass "codeword" for the Democratic Party.

4. Bush doesn't make mistakes |
|
Or at least doesn't admit to them.
We do. But I admit the Republicans are making as big a stink about this as Hillary's supporters.
Paul is a GREAT DEM!

7. I've never made much of that distinction... |
|
meaning I've never thought about saying the Democrat/Democratic party. Writing it out it seems to me that the word "democratic" is more appropriate, but I wouldn't base anything about someone else about the use of "democrat".

13. Okay, Whew... Back to Reality |
|
G. Gordon Libby: "Prison guards, as a class, are the world's stupidest people."
Now I'm back to disagreeing with him. That was short-lived.
Obviously, as a class, the world's stupidest people are Republicans.

17. Yes, Begala is a Dino. |
|
Not for the reason you've stated though. Although first of all I don't think anyone made the mistake of not letting Hillary speak. It would be stupid and foolish to let her speak, because once she opened her mouth the media would be frothing. Any message that we are trying to get out during the Convention would be smothered.
With that said... Begala believes that the only way to win elections is to stay in the "middle". He's all about winning, not about principle. The Republicans, as we can obviously see with George Bush, are moving further and further to the right and the Democratic Party is following because the "center" is constantly being redefined. They are so afraid to be called a liberal that they run away from the word screaming in terror.
I would love to see John Kerry stare into a camera and say flat out: "My opponent calls me a liberal. He throws the word around like it's something dirty or bad. They say I'm the number one liberal in the Senate, I don't know what they think the word Liberal means but if it means balancing budgets, providing health care for all Americans, dealing with our problems abroad and in Iraq, seeing that our Children get an education, then by all means call me a Liberal."
