We're in for trouble if the election is close
either way...

Buckle your seat belts. This is shaping up to be the most contentious, nasty, divisive presidential race in history. With NY refusing to grant permits for Central Park next month violence is almost certain.

If the election is close either way, civil disobedience is likely.
Suspicion of fraud (even if none exists) will polarize the nation further. As the rules are reshaped to exclude comments by elected reps like Corrine Brown, some level of open revolt is a distinct possibility. Alarmist? Maybe. But even in the dog days of the Vietnam War was American and international law so blatantly and flippantly tossed out the window.

One undeniable fact across the board is that George W. Bush is not a uniter. Our country, our society, and our Constitution are in tatters. What Republican could possibly think that's best for the country?

Without sounding like a total moron everyone should keep the WPS (Worst Possible Scenario) in the backs of their minds. Because when something on this scale goes south, it usually does so very fast. </rant>

3. Yes
the stakes are much higher than in 2000. Hopefully the Kerry detractors will see that and vote accordingly.

I don't think Kerry will be different from Bush on imperialism, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

I will vote for him.

Some good things:

-Diebold equipment has been decertified in Ohio

-Jeb's voter purge list of black people has been supposedly scrapped

6. Those are good things
and the level of awareness and involvement is much higher now. Will that save us? Anyone's guess.

8. "civil disobedience"?
You mean like the 2000 election?

Yawn....

I agree with WPS, but can't see The People getting off their couches to do much about it. I gave up being a populist a while back.

Florida scraps list of suspected felons barred from voting

Monday, July 12, 2004 Posted: 3:59 PM EDT (1959 GMT)

(CNN) -- Florida Secretary of State Glenda Hood has decided to scrap a list that was intended to keep more than 47,000 suspected felons from voting in November.

Without the list to guide them, it is now up to each of the state's 47 county supervisors to devise their own lists of former felons who should not be allowed to vote.

"They've already been in the process of doing that for several months now," DiPietre said. Some county supervisors throughout the state had questioned whether they had the capacity or the time to verify the names on the list before November.

Public scrutiny of the list became possible earlier this month after a Florida state court judge declared unconstitutional a law restricting access to the list of 47,763 suspected felons. The judge ruled in favor of CNN and other news organizations that filed a lawsuit to obtain a copy of the list.

11. I agree with you totally....
Half the people are going to be totally pissed no matter who's elected.....I'm having less and less faith in the ability of our elected officials to govern.....the Left is not going to roll-over and play dead anymore and the Right won't quit.....I too have a feeling we're heading into something unknown.....
