Israel Bombed Iraq's Osirak Nuclear Research Facility
It was 14 years ago, on June 7, 1981, that 16 U.S.-made Israeli warplanes bombed and destroyed Iraq's Osirak nuclear research.

Now they are planning on bombing Iran's.

3. What are you talking about?
The Butchers of Baghdad has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, the most deadly bio-toxins and the most vicious chemicals. And thanks to the dirty bombs used by the imperial stormtroopers, the butchers of Bagdhad will keep on butching the unborn long after their own miserable lives have ended.

What a great day indeed. Good things happen when reactors are bombed. Hope you're not living as close to one as I am.

6. Iran is a loooong way away...
Israel will need some way of reaching Iran. IIRC, the F-16s they flew in the Iraq raid maxed out their operating range even with external fuel tanks. Regarding that, I just read Seymour Hersh's Plan B article in the New Yorker. I don't know when all the stuff going on in northern Iraq will boil over, but I don't think Iran will take such a move without some recourse. Maybe that's why the Bush admin is going so easy on Sharon - because they need to bribe him to wait to bomb Iran until after we attack sometime next year.

9. Apolgies for not finishing my post
IFR = In Flight Refueling or just Aerial Refueling or just IR for(in-flight refueling). No matter what you call it, the Israelis can use it to hit Iran.

10. Ahhh... Thanks!
That makes sense. An article in LBN said that most likely the Israelis would use F-15I jets.

I have another question though: The only Bushehr I can find is the one on the Persial Gulf, yet the article above talks about overflying Turkey, as does the Seymour Hersh article. This doesn't make sense to me, as it seems like the long way around. Is there another Bushehr?

11. Thanks for the link AZCat
This article is a must read.
Looks like S. Hersh has access to a lot of information.

12. Depending on the circle-of-error probability
they could probably hit those reactors with their Jericho II-B missiles.
With or without conventional war heads.

Well I for one am not letting the Arabs off with a pat on the ass, if they were really serious about proliferation in the region they'd diplomatically recognize Israel and put the issue on the front burner.
Unless of course the DU doesn't really believe in the efficacy of negotiations?
