Does anyone else see this as more stupidity
Iran is somehow complicit with terrorists because there are NO stamps from Iran in the supposed terrorist passports???????? And here is yet one more very very relevant question - how the heck did the passports of these Sept 11 terrorists find their way to the FBI????? They somehow survived the blasts while 3000 souls were vapourized?????????????????????????????

snip - The final report from the cross-party inquiry, which is examining the origins of the September 11 attacks, is believed to contain concrete evidence of contacts between al-Qaeda and Iran.

Time magazine reports that at least eight of the hijackers, who lived in the US for months before the attacks, passed through Iran between October 2000 and February 2001 apparently with help from the Iranian authorities.

Known al-Qaeda members also seem to have been allowed to cross in and out of Iran freely across the Afghan border, with Iranian border guards being told not to stamp the passports of al-Qaeda operatives, harass them or hinder their ability to travel freely.

The report is thought to hint that Iranian officials were ordered to assist al-Qaeda operatives with any travel needs.

The September 11 Commission report will, however, stop short of stating that Iran was aware of the plans for the September 11 attacks.

2. So If They're Not Stamped, Iran is Complicit
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 10:43 AM by ribofunk
and if they ARE stamped, Iran is also complicit? More likely the Al-Qaida members slipped across the border because they knew they wouldn't be welcome.

I don't understand the reference to multiple passports, either. Wouldn't the hijackers need them on the flights as ID? I thought that the government was only claiming that Mohammed Atta's passport survived.

On Edit: Not all countries stamp passports. Cuba doesn't. When I went through Romania a few years ago, I was handed a little slip of paper instead. Almost got in huge trouble with the border guards later when I couldn't find it.

7. Remember Republican Logic?
The fact that no weapons had been found somehow proved that Iraq had them. Iraq had failed to prove that they did not possess the weapons that they did not have, and failed to provide the evidence of the destruction of those weapons.

I know that it hurts, but that is how they think.

Clark said it the best "Iraq is to 9/11 what Mexico is to Pearl Harbor" Now that is easy enough for even me to understand!

3. How the hell did these 'terrorists' get into the US?
Isn't that the more important question.

We can't even seal the borders of Iraq, why should we expect Iran to be any better? Yet, the US did allow the terrorists to come here to live and work and some of them even trained at US bases. How did that happen?

5. dont know, will have to see, but..............
i have been hearing for a couple years irans involvement again this is not something new. they have had members in their country adn at a time was thought osb had been allowed into iran for protection

i think there is absolutely a connection between iran and al queda, but also iran has mellowed out and backed away from it too, after the blustering of administration to war on terrorism.

dont know where htis is going to go, dont condone invasion or battle with iran

6. A general who was assisting in the round up and detention of
Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor was quoted by a newspaper reporter. The reporter asked that if the Nisei were dangerous subversives, how come no sabotage had been reported on the West Coast?

The general replied: "The fact that no sabotage has occurred we find very suspicious."

In other words, you're damned if you do, and double-damned if you don't.
