Recommedations for books about history of Latin America

I would like recommendations for books concerning the history (mostly recent history) of some Latin American countries, particularly Mexico, Argentina, and Nicaragua. I'm looking especially for focus on political history. Left-leaning books are ok, don't want anything too biased. Obviously no whitewashes.

1. Panama: How Wall Street Created a Nation

I think the author's name is Diaz .....I'll double check..but it lays the foundation for much of America's meddling in Latin America.

Another good book but it's out of print and costly is "Thy Will be Done" Colby..detailing the use of missionaries in Latin America to install dictators.

3. Eduardo Galeano's "Memory of Fire" Trilogy

The first volume, "Genesis" begins with tales from the indigenous cultures followed by stories of conquest & colonization. "Faces & Masks" covers the 19th century--freedom from Spain but variable results for the people. "Century of Wind" is the 20th century.

The Uruguayan writer is a leftist but this history is not just political; myth, legend & silliness are included. Each section--from one paragraph to several pages long--is one facet of the story of the Americas. References direct you toward further reading.

This is a beautiful & poetic work.
