I wonder if * will seize upon the Kazemi trial in Iran ...
... and use it to push "they hate us for our freedoms"?

Zahra Kazemi was an Iranian-Canadian journalist who died while under interrogation by Iranian authorities. Canada is furious that the Iranian government, after finally agreeing to a trial of the accused security agents, first wouldn't allow Canadian and European diplomatic observers to attend, and then ended the trial early.

I'm doubly upset that any attempt by Canada and human-rights organizations to press the Iranian government on this issue will, alas, play into the Bush Administration's apparent plan to drum up anti-Iranian sentiment.

1. This is so minor it shouldn't even be on the radar
True, that's never stopped him before.

2. Minor? I would disagree.
It's a pretty big deal in Canada.
The Iranian government played a part in killing a journalist, a Canadian one at that, and covering it up. Not a big deal? I have absolutely no sympathy for the government of Iran.

3. We pulled our ambassador today...
That's a pretty major step for Canada.
