Assistance please: somehow I missed the whole think with Clarke |
|
Last night my father and I started talking about current events. Dad is basically a fairly independant voter. Voted for both parties and third parties in the past, not a fan of bush, not a hater of all things bush either.
One of the things he did mention was stuff I was really out of the loop on. He said something about stuff that Clarke had said to the 9/11 committee later turning out to be proven untrue.
Can someone get me back up to speed on Clarke credibility issues, if any? I've noticed we never hear anything else about the guy - perhaps I was living in a cave and missed all of this..

1. Sorry, I don't remember anything he said that was proven to be untrue |
|
Maybe someone else knows to what you refer. Your Father didn't give specifics?

3. He might be talking about the Bin Laden/Saudi post 9/11 Flights |

A major Republican talking point is that Richard Clarke was, in fact, the sole Administration official responsible for approving the Bin Laden/Saudi flight out of the US after 9/11. These are the flights that Michael Moore brings up in his film. Clarke has stated, on the record, that he made that call.
It's possible that this is what your father was speaking about...
ON EDIT: I'm not attempting to absolve all Presidential guilt over the infamous flights; I'm just trying to help you understand what your father was referring to... (I'm applying the Bush Doctrine of Pre-Emption here) ;-)

4. Hmm.... dad must have just been wrong... |
|
I love the fact that my dad is cool. If I showed him that he was wrong he would just say, "I'm really glad I know that!" rather than freak out and be stupid and defensive.
