Berger headlines vs. Plame headlines. There's that "liberal" media again!
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 09:34 AM by Brotherjohn
My, the "liberal" media is really onto this Sandy Berger thing, hmnnn?

I was looking just now at USA Today's headline. It reads "Clinton adviser target of probe", complete with picture of Berger next to, of course, Clinton (http://www.usatoday.com/). Last night's was a bold, large-letter headline along the lines of "Berger Under Investigation". The effect was "Yikes! This is as big a story as another terror attack!".

Today's headline got me thinking. I don't think I've seen a comparable headline during the entire Plame affair. And we're talking about a sitting White House under criminal investigation, with coming indictments likely of the veep's Chief of Staff, at least.

Sandy Berger is an ex-NSC who allegedly carried some documents out of a secure room that he wasn't supposed to carry out (but ones that he DID have access to). Oh, and just COPIES of the documents, so any accusations that there were nefarious motives are nonsense.

This will likely come to about as much as the similar accusations levelled at ex-Treasury Secretary O'Niell (Nada. Zip. Zilch.). Whereas the Plame investigation will likely yield indictments of sitting White House officials.

The Plame indictments may come out any day. This gives conservatives the ability to say "But your guy is under investigation, too!" Timing, of course, is everything.

Damn you "liberal" media!!! (/SARCASM OFF)

1. I heard about this on the radio.
THey were also talking about how the insinuations back when Bush took office about Clinton vandalizing the WH were a bunch of bullshit.

They said that Berger did borrow some documents and returned them promptly.

2. Oh, and the picture is great, too. Clinton casually accepting documents..
... from Berger, while looking straight ahead. Jeez, it looks like a drug drop! Could USAToday be trying to imply something?

MSNBC reports the visit to check the documents was requested of Berger by the Clenis.

What was it's evil plan???!!!

seriously, Clinton asked him to do it, ergo all True Americans must vote for Bush.

6. Some CNN anchor
said that Berger should have known better because he was National Security Adviser.

Then why is Condi Rice off the hook for all the lies about WMD, not to mention the total blowing off of 9/11 warnings.

7. What I want to see (but have yet to) is a pic of Cheney and Libby...
... or Bush and Cheney, on the front page with the headline:
"Cheney's Chief of Staff Under Investigation".

Of course, that probably won't even happen when he's indicted.
