Please God, let there be some Amish witnesses who will step forward and say that he really did say it!!!!! Please.

Before the cock crows, Chimpy, thrice you will deny it!

5. No true evangelical Christian could be patriotic to the degree
that this jingoistic period demands and be true to their faith. It falls under idolatry.

4. Oh yes, indeedy.
I heard on Air America Radio this morning. Mark Maren talked about how Holy George definitely said that to the Amish group. I think there was a clip of it....couldn't finish listening because I drove into work.

Did anybody else hear it?

Otherwise, you can try Google to see if anybody has a tape recording of it. JUICY!!!

11. Mr. Bush, release the tapes of the event!
I call on the Bush administration to release the tapes of the President's speech immediately so that the American people can hear for themselves whether or not the man in the Oval Office is having delusions of Godhood.

How about it, Mr. Bush? Release the tapes now. The American people deserve to know.

{Sound familiar, you Republican slimeballs?}

14. It was reported in the Lancaster New Era News 7/16
Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 11:10 PM by kittykitty
He said it. I read it.

Published on July 16, 2004, Lancaster New Era (PA)

Bush quietly meets with Amish here; they offer their prayers

President Bush met privately with a group of Old Order Amish during his visit to Lancaster County last Friday. He discussed their farms and their hats and his religion.

He asked them to vote for him in November.

The Amish told the president that not all members of the church vote but they would pray for him.

Bush had tears in his eyes when he replied. He said the president needs their prayers. He also said that having a strong belief in God is the only way he can do his. . .

<snip>

At the end of the session, Bush reportedly told the group, “I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn’t do my job.’’

19. Your welcome :-)
I have noticed several papers let one read articles when clicking though google news without having to register or pay at least for a short period so check there if you get blocked. Also sometimes you can access old articles through google web search cache or the internet archive here:

21. I found it in the Washington Post. It's at the bottom of this item:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62623-2004Jul19.html

I thought the denial would show up in more places, but evidently the press isn't covering this issue. Don't want to embarass the Chimperor, I guess.
