Freepers: Clinton knew Iraqis helped w/OK City bombing (berger coverup)

Freepers are saying, apparently, that Sandy Berger was stuffing docs in his clothing because he's covering up the information that

1) Clinton knew that Iraqi terrorists were in on the OK City bombing (they helped McVeigh), and he was afraid he wouldn't get re-elected if we the people knew that, so his admin. blamed it on McVeigh/Nichols alone.

2) Clinton knew that foreign terrorists shot down TWA 800, and his admin. covered it up to save his own bacon.

3) Clinton "knew" 9/11 was al-Qaeda instantly, because if he suggested it was the Iraqis (which the Freepers are still insisting it was) then his previous coverups would be found out.

Freepers calling this Clinton's greatest crime.

6. What's interesting, though ...

(and I'm not saying Clinton covered up a damned thing) ... is that National Public Radio did a piece on the OK City bombing (lots of witnesses who weren't called to testify at the trials, who had seen other (unidentified) people with McVeigh at the bombing scene, and so forth)... it was a very long piece, with a lot of documentation, and they had me scratching my head by the end of it, wondering whether there really might have been a John Doe #2 and what really happened there. It wasn't about foreign involvement, but about White Supremacist groups (I think) that were robbing banks throughout the Midwest, raising money for their "cause." They supposedly had ties to McVeigh, and rented a garage in Oklahoma.

The NPR piece was not anti-Clinton Admin. at all ... just raised all sorts of questions -- was it just an Aryan Nation plot instead of a "lone nut who was pissed about Waco"?

I don't find it hard to believe that other people were involved with the OK City bombing -- helping McVeigh and Nichols. Don't know who they might have been, but I've always had an open mind on that point.

But the thought that Berger was stuffing OK City documents in his socks is just silly.

But, we differ in that you think much more higly of Slick than do I. You suggest that his motivation for lying, treason and general dishonesty was reelection. I believe he was well paid for almost everything he did. The Saudis and Iraqis paid Willie to stay away from Osama. The money may have come from Marc Risch (who Willie pardoned) but it was Iraqi/Saudi money.

But, your script WILL make a great documentary! A sure winner at Cannes!!

Why not simply never include it to begin with?

If the freeper reply is "Well, they didn't KNOW that 9/11 was going
to happen, so they had to remove the damning evidence that Clinton
screwed up at the first opportunity". OK. If it wasn't clear to
Clinton and/or Berger before they left office (whatever IT is), then
why would it be damning now? I'm sure that if Rummy KNEW that we
would be invading Iraq twice and holding out Saddam as evil incarnate,
even he might have thought twice about shaking his hand and smiling
his best "You are one of our very BESTest dictators in the world"
smile at Saddam back in the eighties. So what if Clinton either
missed something or did something that might be seen as helping
the terrorists NOW... unless it was really evil (like funding Bin
Laden or arming Bin Laden)... in which case, Bill would NEVER have
left such incriminating evidence around.

Logic defeats this as a story. We don't even need to know what it
was that Berger took with him or what got lost, or whether it was
copies or not, or even if he stuffed something into his sock.
It is simply a stupid attempt to spin up a news cycle (released
on a MONDAY, not a FRIDAY, months after the investigation was
over, apparently) by a increasingly desperate rethuglican party
trying to hold onto power.
