Can't cry hard enough - Waiting for the 911 report
NEW YORK (CNN)January 14, 2004> -- Families of victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attack said Wednesday they will go back to court to find out more about the final hours of their relatives' lives on September 11, 2001....

Will the families of the victims of 911 ever get the answers that they deserve, or will this song come to also symbolize the country that America once was?

RIP

1. Which version is it?
I'm pretty sure that Victoria Williams wrote that tune, but I actually like the version that her brothers recorded better. I never quite warmed to her voice as much as I wanted to.

4. She wrote and sang the version in the video
Here's another version of the song. Are these Victoria's brothers? Once you click on the site, the song plays over and over. It will always remind me of all who have perished as the result of our country's misdeads in the Middle East.

10. I don't have audio at work....But in 1992....
The Williams Brothers (Victoria's siblings) released a version of the song. It was much more polished and radio friendly. I think it was a very modest hit. I remember playing it at the top 40 radio station I worked at during that time period.

2. After watching that musical video. Do you know what I don't get?
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 02:42 PM by Liberal_Guerilla
What I don't get is how we felt so much during 9/11, yet feel nothing towards the hell wrath that we have brought down upon the innocent people of Iraq, and even Afghanistan. Do we even know what the casualty counts in those countries are? 30, 40, 50 thousand?

How about Vietnam and the three+ million Vietnamese that we massacred? Or the Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where one bomb instantly killed 70,000 innocent people. When you put it in perspective to our actions, it seems that we have no right to mourn over 9/11.

I don't mean this in a cruel way because I am deeply moved by the loss of those innocent people on that sunny Semptember day. But, I am also deeply moved by the loss of innocent lives in all matters of injustice, not just ours. Especially matters of injustice done in my name.

May God forgive us all.

3. It's not callous or cruel... it's compassionate
And for me it also includes the things we may not be directly responsible for, but things we don't really bother too much to stop, either.

8000 per day die just from AIDS in Africa. Just AIDS. Every. single. day. 1 million deaths every year from malaria in Africa alone.

Around the world, every eight seconds a child dies of a water-related disease - 80 percent of diseases in the developing world are caused by contaminated water. These numbers are from 1999... wonder if they've changed much.

:(

Your perspective is in order.

5. My husband & I lost 5 friends in the WTC on 9/11...not one of the families
...of our friends who died support this administration...

The injustices that have been done to our friends and their families are three-fold - the attack that took their lives and the inaction both before the attacks on 9/11 and then the inaction and stall tactics by this administration...

They deserve answers and sadly, probably won't ever get them or atleast not for a long time...

It's a further insult to the families and our friends memories when this administration tries to capitalize on their deaths...

:grr:

8. The 9/11 Coverup Commission
already has their schtick in place:

'There were many mistakes and many oversights made by many people.'

This way, nobody is really to blame, not even an administration that studiously looked the other way for nine months, ignoring: the admonitions of the outgoing administration, major DOD recommendations, a crescendo of high-level warnings from intelligence agencies around the world that an attack was imminent, and their own national security experts.

They refused to listen to any of them. They did nothing. Two skyscrapers came down.

This commission of Bush lackeys should be held in contempt from now to election day, and beyond, by every Democrat with a voice.

12. Did you know they're going on tour?
Think maybe they expect to be met with tons of skepticism?

Why else the tour, except maybe to shore up their support from those willing to be fooled?
