Chevron makes me watch Faux News
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 04:56 PM by Jack_Dawson
as I fill up my tank. I don't ask for the TV to come on, but on it comes after the gas starts flowing. Next thing you know, there is smug Carl Cameron trying to contain his laughter as he reports on Kerry/Edwards. I'm not exactly surprised an oil company makes me watch/listen to Bush TV, but it still sucks. Just venting. :hi:

7. what kind of display?
You might be able to disrupt the sucker by putting a magnet next to the display. Or you could tape a piece of paper over the screen that says, "remove this paper to view pro-government propoganda." Or you can write Chevron and tell them to put their news feed in their Foxhole. I'd also write to Condi Rice and let her know you're not giving her old buddies at Chevron any more of your hard-earned cash!

Don't take this lying down. I sure wouldn't. The only way to get this administration to listen is to hit them repeatedly in their wallet. Which they normally store in a place in close proximity to their brains!

11. the CAFETERIA in our local not=for=profit hospital has Fox on!!!
could NOT believe it

there were no people around when I saw it--late at--night, so I didn't complain; guess I could have called somebody, but it wasn't high on list at the time

thanks for reminding, though; maybe I'll call in about that

12. Get Some Friends...Make A Scene
I'm sure Mr. Chevron wouldn't like the sight of a dozen or so cars circling his little station with banners and honking horns. And precious little he can do about it. Cars with signs like "O'Reilly Lies", "Hannity Hates", "Fox Lies"...and so on...small, sweet and very visible. Wanna bet the station owner gets the message...and Chevron corporates as well? Enough of these take place and let's see what happens.

About a year ago, I was stuck in a doctor's office with a TV tuned to Faux. I first quietly complained to the receptionist to please turn the set off as it was distracting me. She said she couldn't turn if off but could turn the sound down. That wasn't enough. When the doctor came out, he confided that he got free commercials on the local cable system for running Faux or other channels (he said the only other one that was requested was Home & Garden). About two months ago, I went to the office again, and the TV was on a local station...the doctor said he didn't realize how biased Faux was at the time and has since dropped the cable company program. They even had the stones to ask him why he didn't want to air Faux in his reception room anymore and said "if this is the only way they can get viewer...people in pain and disabled...that says a lot about your company and Faux!".

It backfired on Faux. The doctor actually saw what they were televising. He threw out his kool-aid! Good for him, and good for you for complaining.

18. Here in California...
We can buy gas via credit card right at the pump. On some of those machines, there are little 3" x 4" TV screens built into the pump station itself. They come alive when you start pumping, conceivably to pass time as you fill the tank. Problem is, Faux News is what comes on, and you can't change the channel or turn it off.

25. America's two biggest addictions rolled into one: gas and tv
all it needs to do now is spit out a quarter pounder with cheese and viagra or botox and Americans will be all set.

We have the credit card machine pumps but I've never seen one with a tv. How silly...it's not like people spend a lot of time waiting to fill up a gas tank (although I do wonder how long it takes for Hummer drivers). What's the point?

20. Disturbing
The first thing I find disturbing is that they think that people need to be entertained during the 3 minutes it takes to fill up. And for them to fill up that time with blatant propaganda is even more disturbing.

21. A lot of airports have CNN on in the waiting rooms....
and imo CNN is almost as right-wing biased as Faux.

When I stayed at a Hilton in D.C. last year, Faux played endlessly on the elevators, which were very slow.

Get this. A freeper I know slightly was complaining the other day that CNN was on in the airport last time she flew. She claimed it was an example of the "left wing bias" in the country.

Sheesh.
