Well well well just got off the phone with a FORMER bush supporter!
VERY interesting conversation, so much so I thought I'd pass on what he said right here.

First of all, you could have knocked me over with a feather when he called and told me he is voting for Kerry. Seriously. I choked on my Diet Coke then told him to pull my other leg. But he went on in a really serious voice and I knew he wasn't kidding. When I asked him why he said "just one thing. Just ONE thing. Osama bin Laden."

"Elaborate, please," said I.

He said (paraphrasing here but very close): "Here's the deal--if Osama bin Laden was the motherf*cker who masterminded 9/11, then what the hell? Bush said he doesn't CARE where he is. DOESN'T CARE. What the f*ck is that about? (He's fairly yelling right about here...) I mean, that's the bastard who masterminded the killing of all those Americans and all that destruction and we just don't GIVE A SHIT about finding him anymore?"

(I was wondering just about now if my friend had JUST noticed this or if he had JUST really had it sink in and got angry about it--turns out it's probably the latter.)

So I agreed and he went on to ask me to kinda keep his decision on the down low for right now, as he hasn't really told his family yet but he knew he could tell me. I promised not to say anything (ok except for here!). He said he is going to tell his wife this weekend and they are going to take the bush-cheney bumperstickers off their cars this weekend, too. He said he hates looking at them now.

Wow. I was just about speechless. I told ya'll a week or so ago about my neighbor who voted for chucklenuts in 2000 and who called me and said she is voting for Kerry and Edwards because they have such cute photogenic families. And my best friend's dad shocked her by telling her he wasn't voting for bush.

If this keeps up, I'm going to be hard-pressed to actually KNOW someone who is voting for him!!!! In Texas! I'll have to get to know new bush supporter people, because I must have some mojo that's wearing off or somethin'.....;)

1. Wonderful news, thanks for sharing this with us.
It helps to hear that folks are defecting from the cult!

Did he just figure that out about Osama? You need to find out if he tried some new food, some food he has never eaten before, or if he was close to some strong energy force. There may be an antidote or treatment for the poison that distorts their thinking and maybe he will be the link. <sarcasm>

Seriously, great news and thanks for sharing. :bounce:

7. Well I left out that part of the conversation because
I didn't think it was as interesting, but he said he knew about it (that bush had said he doesn't really care where he is) but that he was reading a review of F 9/11 and the review (he hasn't seen it, by the way) mentioned that moment where bush said that and it reminded my friend and I guess he just finally put it together, it all clicked, and it made him mad as hell.

There are bush-cheney 2004 stickers on BOTH of their vehicles. And they have given MONEY to his campaign. But he was really angry, his voice was even shakey. I've honestly never heard him like that.

You just never know what will cause those gears to turn and things to click.

17. Invite him and his wife to dinner and to F 911. Then reassure
him that there are hundreds who are in his shoes. Be sure that you drive and let him drink as much as he needs. It is hard to lose faith as quickly as he has.

I wonder what finally got through to your friend. Maybe he did just hear about * saying he didn't care where OBL is. I've only heard Randi mention that. I'm not sure it's widely-known.

How I'd love for the great state of Texas to send him back to Kennebunkport.

Wow, I can hardly believe this story - and his mind was changed from a REVIEW of the movie. I guess he'll go out and start recruiting if he ever does see it!!

Glad he called you - I know you'll give him lots of support about his decision. He may be giving up some social comfort, standing, or other friends as a result, so he's gonna need you. And so will his wife, and I hope she'll soon be a convert.

Do keep us all posted!

Kerry/Edwards

Now, if Shrub has lost *this* guy, he's in real trouble.

12. Gawd I left out my main point
I think for most bush supporters or fence sitters, this is one thing that'll get 'em where they live.

HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT FINDING OSAMA BIN LADEN.

There is nothing they can say to rebut that, he is on the record as having said that.

Now how does anything else matter? Iraq? What the heck was that for?

Admitting OBL is no concern to bush, I think, was a fatal mistake.

Fatal. Start playing it up. THAT should be a MAJOR point for the Dems!!!

They planning on mentioning it at the convention? I sure as hell hope so!

Osama out into daylight during either one of the conventions. When he said he didn't care about finding Osama, I remember saying "Well, you asshole, I care." If Bush does bring Osama out, I think Americans will say ok that's it; pull the guys out of Iraq, so that's why he doesn't care about Osama. It should backfire on him no matter which way he goes. hehehe

Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 08:46 PM by Pluvious
Amazing ppl are starting to notice, that Shrub says what ever the moment calls for, regardless of truth or reality.

But you know BushCo is trying like hell to get Pak. to go into the tribal areas and capture the filthy cretin, and they could just pull it off...

Meanwhile, the public face(s) say:

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him!"
-G.W. Bush, Sept. 13,2001

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and I really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
-G.W. Bush, March 13, 2002

41. I sent them to a staunch Bush supporting friend
His mother emailed me stating how pissed she was about her Heinz sandwich pickles and how they came from Mexico and that John Kerry is supposedly all about keeping jobs here blah blah blah. So she calls on everyone she sent it to to check their Heinz products to see his flip flop. So I go over to my kitchen table, pick up the Heinz cocktail sauce jar and what do you know, Pittsburgh PA! and proudly stamped Made in USA. Of course I call her on her B.S. because a few others in my house all said USA on them. I stated what I found and then followed by, "I don't believe that all pickles come from the U.S. only." and I just sent the quotes you listed to them. I am waiting for the flames, lol.

Prior to going to war with Iraq, he excuse was the Saddam had WMD that he wanted to use against the US. Now that Bush can't find the WMD, he says that doesn't matter either. Saddam was a threat to his own people. He was hurting his own people, Bush cries.

Well, I have some words for you Dubya. You are doing the same to the American people. You are no better then Saddam. You 2 are to peas in a pod. Both of you are dictators, who took control of a country by force. You both tortured innocent people. You both lie. You both refuse to give up the throne. Last but not least, you both have falling from grace and will be dragged out of office by force.

38. Good news
Great to here about conversions. The freeps that I talk to, just seem to do the blind follower routine, but I wonder how far that can go. How many countries on the PNAC list are people willing to see attacked before it is too much?
As far as Osama is concerned, I have a theory that they will not bring him in, thus the chimp stating that it didn't matter. He is a trained CIA man and Bin ladens are longtime friends with the b*sh crime family, so he is only used as a poster boy for the war on terror. In fact, I'm sure shrub will need to step it up a notch in a veiled attempt to capture him. I'm surprised Saddam is alive and in custody. If someone else hadn't found him, he would still be on the loose hangin with Rummy and the gang.

Sorry, it is all coming out now. Rant/ :argh:

We ahve to be careful when we experience this sort of thing. Obviously Moonbeam did the right thing by just listening and agreeing. Some conversations may provice other opportunities. Like to mock, say I-told-you-so or other things that could lead to division.

The thing to do is to sympathize with those who wake up as Moonbeam's friend has. Yes, you were lied to by the Bush Admin. as was the Congress and the rest of us or whatever you say along those lines.

Now is the time to welcome those who are waking up to reality warmly and gently.

59. Right, and here's a WARNING:

In the past week, two of my liberal friends (Democrats, of course!) tried to tell some of our conservative friends about seeing F-9/11 and what they learned from it. The Dems were basically shouted down. The Bush* voters immediately said "Lies!" and "Propaganda!" This happened at different times, in different settings.

I know Michael Moore is a hero to many here but Bush* voters think he's anti-American and they think he's disgusting -- apparently because he's fat as much as anything else. People with that view are not going to see F/9-11, and, if they did, they'd dispute it all.

YMMV, but F/9-11 isn't working with Bush* voters I know. The media has done its job to convince people that it's a propaganda film, a Bush*-bashing film, etc. So proceed with caution in trying to discuss it among people who aren't already voting for Kerry.
