Kerry/Edwards: Pessimists or Optimists? |
|
John Kerry and Edwards are PESSIMISTS.
I know this, because Bush and Cheney and Mehlman and Gillespie and McClellan all said so.
And it just makes sense.
I mean, come on. John Kerry thinks that America could be safer with a smarter foreign policy. But if John Kerry was an optimist, wouldn't he think we were ALREADY as safe as we could POSSIBLY be? Only a pessimist would suggest that we can get better.
And don't get me started about health care. John Kerry believes that health care should be a right of every American, and that we can do better for all the people with health problems and conditions. That is very pessimistic. An optimist would just assume that everyone will stay healthy.
And then there's jobs. Kerry thinks that it's bad that many Americans are out of work or underemployed. Why can't he look on the sunny side of life and see the glass as half full instead of half-empty? His pessimistic plan to create millions of new jobs stands in stark contrast to Bush's optimistic approach -- to just assume that the new jobs will create themselves.
This election year, voters have a choice between optimism and pessimism. I suspect you know which choice is the correct one.

1. 85% of Bush's ads are negative |
|
Vitually zero of Kerry's ads have been. Don't trust the press to report this, but the NYT or the WaPo did do a good article on the unprecedented negativity AND inaccuracy of the BushCo campaign ads.

Bush's ads all say that John Kerry is a pessimist.
Of course, the definition of "pessimist" appears to have changed to "thinks things can get better and wants to make them better".

5. Why you're right! That used to be the definition of "Optimist!" |

;-)
Thnks for this thread - it has been drivng me nuts too.
"We can do better!" sounds pretty gung ho optimist to me, and that's what Kerry is saying.
Bush's optimism can best be defined as closing your eyes and hoping for the best.

who disdain anything smacking of purism. Niether optimism nor pessimism defines them adequately. They are supremely confident, and they will sieze, with impunity, whatever advantage they require to enforce their vision, while smashing to splinters any impediments that block their ever forward path. They do not tolerate fools gladly. They are a juggernaut, irresistible and immutable.
