On Monday National Public Radio was promoting its coverage of the release of the 9/11 Commission report with a statement that there were war games going on that day. They then played a recorded conversation between a NORAD employee and the FAA air traffic controller who reported the first hijacking, in which the NORAD guy asked "Is this a simulation or is this real?".
Obviously if one was planning an attack such as occurred on 9/11/2001, it would be of benefit to know that war games were being conducted, in order to make a delayed or confused response more likely.
What are the odds of the hijackers picking the day of the war games as the day of their attack, by chance alone?
Will the Commission answer this question, or even acknowledge it?
According to this
Elephants in the Barracks - The Complete Failure of the 9-11 Commissionthe Commission has avoided this subject. If they don't deal with it, I have to conclude the whole process has been a sham.
#1 – On the morning of September 11, 2001, NORAD was running war games involving hijacked airliners while the National Reconnaissance Offices (NRO) was running a drill for the scenario of an errant aircraft crashing into a government building at the exact same time as an identical scenario was perpetrated. The Air Force was in day two of annual drills testing all of its systems to respond to various threats.
