Stossel is the only "reporter" who has to have his own special dispensation at ABC because his personal bias is so obvious. Mr. "Give me a break" is the master of the selective use of data and fake outrage. At least with most commentators, they will tell you when they're reporting facts and when they're giving you their analysis (even Rush does that), but Stossel dresses up his opinion as if he's Moses coming down off of Sinai with the tablets.

15. While I love what Franken is doing, you have to wonder how much

good it amounts to when Stossel lied to millions and less than one percent of them hear Stossel's comeuppance. It's a start, but the mass disinformation is terrible. That's why Stossel's so calm, he knows few hear the truth--he knows few of those he lied to will see him made out to be the liar he is.

Anyway, Stossel cut his 2 hr interview down to a soundbyte that he used to prop up his opinion. Of course, the soundbyte was taken entirely out of context (it basically cut Galbraith's opinion on the impact of the continentalization of the New Deal down to "Europe could learn something from America", which Stossel used to "prove" his point that America's "economic freedom" was the reason for our prosperity, which wasn't the point of JKG's statement at all) and Galbraith called him on it.

31. To be fair, it was a fairly intricate discussion

about Stossel's selective use of data in his discussion of benefits to the impoverished. It didn't lend itself well to internet reportage, except, as posts above indicate, his lack of knowledge about CHIPS, etc. and his desire to prevaricate when confronted with his mistakes.

We don't get Air America out here in West Virginia. I'm surprised we get NPR.

You can, however, listen to Rush on two different stations simultaneously. I don't think there's a man on this planet that's more intellectually and morally repulsive.
