A good way to put it to the Aladdin Hotel in Vegas
in a language they can understand. Here is the letter I wrote to their reservations email address:

The email was entitled "Reservations"
------------------------
That is something that I will never make with your hotel. From the news reports out of Las Vegas over the past few days, it appears that your hotel is incapable of providing a safe and violent free environment for all of your guests--only those who cannot tolerate free speech and the fact that the constitution still guarantees that. That cheap political stunt pulled by Bill Timmins, who coincidentally contributes to the GOP, has cost your hotel my business for the foreseeable future. Did your hotel even *try* to arrest those destroying your establishment? How can I feel safe in your hotel when you condone ignorants destroying your property?

Ms. Ronstadt's treatment by your hotel staff was beyond contemptable and making the limp excuse that you're trying to "defuse the situation" was beyond the pale. In most cities around the country, police are called in to arrest out of control people destroying private property. When will you release the videotapes of the 'melee' so that everyone can see what really happened? According to one of the local Las Vegas television anchors who attended the concert and was an eye witness, no such thing happened. I cannot even trust the Aladdin to be truthful about this story, how can I trust the Aladdin to keep me safe while I'm staying in their establishment?

The Mirage.. Treasure Island... now those sound like a better bet to me and my money.

----------------
I think the overwhelming demand for the release of the security videotapes, and the History Channel is forever airing stories on security at the Vegas hotels and how up to date their surveillance techniques are, is in order.

1. alternatively
one could wait a couple of months, when the new owners take over, who have promised to have Ronstadt back, with Moore singing backup if he wants.

2. right on!
but in the right now, they need to understand that their reaction to Ronstadt puts my safety at risk when in their establishment... and if they make changes that suit me, then that's when they'll see me and my money.

3. Uh, I personally caused 9 cancellations
An annual professional meeting is in LV next year. Searching on various travel sites a group of us got a great rate at Aladdin---after the crap last week. We cancelled. I got called personally this a.m. by someone in "customer relations" (I was the original contact for the group) and was told that the story was "over dramatized by the artist's people for publicity ...and cable news"----I suggested that they stand up, call the reports "overblown" and release security videos that show nothing of the sort happened. .....Silence and then, "well I'm not in charge of that but I'll ask. In the meantime we hope that you will reconsider....bla blah blah"

I didn't "rebook" (by the way, I've stayed there for 4 conferences in the last two years so I'm sure they know I WAS a repeat customer and belong to several professional organizations in my field)

Anyway, thanks DU for the video idea. That stopped 'em cold. Wonder why....?

8. great move! you likely already know this but the aladdin is being sold
to planet hollywood and is supposed to be renamed. they are in the process of getting their gambling license etc
so i dont know when they will officially become ph property , but i hope you will get to stay at the place then. they have publicly stated they will welcome linda back, and she and michael moore may sing there together (thats what michael says anyway...)

good job of making a difference - thank you.

4. You could tell the Timmon's guy was a typical GOP liar--"I fired Linda
Ronstadt." No, he didn't, that appearance was her last one there anyway . . .

Loser . . .

7. so, until the deal goes down in September
I won't be spending my money in the hotel... but it's not September yet--it's still owned by its present owners, and that is the point.

Maybe the safety issue I raised in my email will be something that the new management will address in the future.. let's hope so. The present management--right now, today--doesn't seem concerned about the safety of all of their guests, and that is what I'm sticking to THEM, not the new owners.

11. The pres of Planet Hollywood is aghast at that and said that they want
her back and Micheal Moore too when they take over. They said they never censor and will never do it. They are welcome to come back. I think its on yahoo news.
