Why haven't any airtraffic controllers
spoken out about what they did on 9/11? They are saying that they didn't follow protocol, what do the controllers have to say about that?

6. Well, Randi Rhodes speculates that the controllers followed protocol...
but were short-circuited by higher-ups and shenanigans in the military. This article lends credence to that belief...

F.A.A. Official Scrapped Tape of 9/11 Controllers' Statements
By MATTHEW L. WALD

Published: May 6, 2004

ASHINGTON, May 6 — At least six air traffic controllers who dealt with two of the hijacked airliners on Sept. 11, 2001, made a tape recording that same day describing the events, but the tape was destroyed by a supervisor without anyone making a transcript or even listening to it, the Transportation Department said in a report today.

8. This article should be sent to news media as a reminder
Good find -- I remember reading that, and like so much else, it just dropped into the well and was gone without a splash. It wouldn't hurt to send it around to the "news" media to remind them that there are still more stories out there should they care to get off their butts and collect them.

7. I think that's a compliment. I heard the testimony at the 9/11 hearings.
The 9/11 staffers summarized the events of the day.

During that hearing it was revealed that one of the controllers did not follow protocol, and in so doing, contacted the military control headquarters on his own to let them know about one of the planes. It turns out that this was the earliest that the military had been notified, and had the controller not done that, the military may not have been notified in time to get any military planes up in the air before it was all over.

This not following protocol was stressed in a complimentary way. It showed the controller (actually, it was a supervisor, I thought) was "thinking outside the box," someone at the hearing said. Which was one of the few good things that happened that day.
