More good news!! Good luck tomorrow with the National Urban League, Mr
Bush. You're going to need it!!!

Bush campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Millerwise said the president would likely discuss economic policy and the war on terror. “We will be working hard to increase our support in the African-American community in Michigan,” Millerwise said, noting that Bush-Cheney chose to launch its national black voter outreach campaign Monday in Detroit. “That sends a loud and clear signal.”

That signal won’t be enough to get the vote of African-American Tonya Gulley, a 33-year-old Detroit financial representative. While she praises the president for speaking to the Urban League, she said Bush has “neglected the working black man and woman, and the children growing up in poverty. He didn’t come across like he cared.”

An EPIC-MRA poll conducted July 6-8 found 84 percent of African-American voters in Michigan favor Kerry, while it detected no support for Bush. The poll also found African-Americans were far more likely than whites to hold an unfavorable view of Bush: 68 percent compared with 41 percent.

Retired Ford Motor Co. welder James Mallory of Detroit called Bush’s speech to the Urban League “showboating,” to try to calm African-Americans like himself who were angry that he didn’t speak to the NAACP.

Yes that reads "detected no support for Bush". Right on! Not speaking to the NAACP was the best thing he could have done. I think this state might finally be swinging in the right...er left direction. :hi:

he doesn't give a Shit!

I saw the President of The National Urban League on c-span and he is the most articulate, intelligent, compassionate person, who I heard talk in a long time. His name is Marc Morial

He said The Urban League is non partisan and I believe him but he sure gave it to all the repuke callers who were giving him oxyrush/gop talking points...refuting them right and left and the Dems who called in were just polite and there were no problems..

So proud to be a Dem sometimes.

on edit~I'm with my African American bretheran on ..". The poll also found African-Americans were far more likely than whites to hold an unfavorable view of Bush: 68 percent compared with 41 percent."

I can't believe only 41% of whites have an unfavorable view of the bushead!!

4. The 59% comes from the wannabes who think if they vote Republican
they'll be rich someday. True shame. My husband's cousin is a truck driver, can barely scrape together grocery money and rent...and yet he still votes Republican, all the while dropping lower on the class scale...sigh.

This state is full of a lot of people who are blind as they drive through Grosse Pointe's thousands of For Sale signs, and don't see what this administration is doing to them.
