Today, I stopped by the office of a staunch Republican customer
of mine.Normally, he would be thumping about his chests about what a great job Bush is doing.Today, was different, vastly different! He started off saying how bad things are in the automotive business with nearly 3.5 million cars left unsold in dealer ships.I started to say something about how they still have about three months to sell this inventory when he stopped me and said" you realize what this means don't you?".I said something like people don't have the money to buy these cars.He said"but the foreign cars are still selling like hot cakes and they have hardly any cars left until the new models come out".He went on:" I think our middle class is being wiped out and we are becoming a country of the very rich and the very poor.We need to do something so we do not become another Brazil".I told him that he should seriously consider looking at the Kerry-Edwards ticket and encourage all his employees to do the same.I offered to come and talk to all his employees(about 70 people). In this totally Republican state,Indiana, some people are beginning to question the policies that are bankrupting the middle class people.

Although I don't take any pleasure in seeing other people suffer through no fault of their own, I was pleased to see the changes taking place. One more note: I am going to go back next week to speak to his employees!

3. Good for you!
It is so sad and none of us wants to hear of suffering but I am so glad they are waking up enough to actually listen. I am also glad you are going to talk to them. Good luck.

7. Good for you! It takes one vote at a time
It's too bad that so many people wait until something bad happens to them when they decide to quit voting Republicans. The Republican Party can be described in two words: ME FIRST

Several of my Repub friends (mostly women) are voting for Kerry. My dad - age 65 and a life long Republican- is voting for Kerry because he thinks that Bush let the "Guns and Jesus" freaks hi-jack the Republican party.

Keep up the good work. One vote at a time.

10. Good for you! Spread the word.
This is happening all over America. Even the mildly rich who got a hummer's worth of tax breaks from * are starting to realize that we need to fix our country.

Btw - that's hummer as in the SUV, not the other kind...

13. I spent the weekend with my staunch Repub
parents, and, as usual, we got into it. She said "if you vote for Kerry, you're no daughter of mine" and I said "if you vote for Bush you're no mother of mine", which stopped her in her tracks. I said seriously tell me one thing Bush has done that you think is so great, and she couldn't come up with a thing. She certainly doesn't care if the Iraqi people are free or not so she couldn't even say that. If any of those employees say they will vote for Bush, ask them that one question; stumps them every time.

14. interesting him talking about a brazil.....I started saying that
way before bush got in.....back in the late 80s and 90's ...while some parts of the economy was going hog wild....there were a lot of IT people and other areas already showing the signs of demise....NAFTA....killed us completely...and that is/was supported by everyone......this mess is bigger than either party....

but obviously it is worse with bush....but the whole direction needs to be changed.....

all people want to live better...that is why the other countries are glammering...for jobs tooo....

this is a world problem....and unless we put a cap on what ceo s can get and some of the other ways that the top 10 % of the population is making out so much...while...turning the rest of the world into brazil......

this is bigger than us folks.....

Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 08:38 PM by BattyDem
I heard that on AirAmerica a few months ago. :-)

"I think our middle class is being wiped out and we are becoming a country of the very rich and the very poor."

For the last couple of years, I've been telling friends and relatives that Bush's economic policies are all about wiping out the middle class because that's the hallmark of a successful dictatorship - two classes: the ruling class and the slave class. They laughed ... but they're not laughing now. Welcome to Dubya's Amerika.

I'm glad your customer finally saw the light. Maybe there is hope for us after all! :bounce:

18. I feel for him...glad he opened up to you
I think a lot of people voted for bush* because they thought he would maintain the status quo of a Clinton Economy. And people like your friend really believed all the "economy is getting better" bullshit they were being fed by bush*.

Kerry should ask bush* in the debates about his "ownership" program. Does it include the ability of Americans to own a new car? Or a new home?
============================================================
Less than 1/2 of all American families can afford a "median" priced home in this country right now. Statistics for the EO of June:

Affordability Ratio

Existing homes
50.4% median priced home: 159K

Note: Because information on the percentage of borrowers who can put 20% down is not available, an exact affordability ratio cannot be calculated. A 10% downpayment assumption reduces affordability by at least 5%.

New Homes
46.3% median price: 198K

Geez, when will people learn that the rightwingers are blinding them with vague patriotic rhetoric and bending them over and cheneying them while they are not looking?

Give them the Math Formula: Stupid Voting gets Stupid Presidents = stupid results = poor conditions = more stress = more crime = less fun.

22. You deserve a medal.
You get to make a speech to 70 people just because you asked their disgruntled boss? That's freakin' awesome. If the DNC awarded little gold and silver donkey medals I'd nominate you for one.
