Where can I find any articles regarding the Sirian men on the planes . . .
and their odd behavior. Also, there were reports of other planes having similar experiences. The men had one-way tickets from Detroit to LA. There were air marshalls on board; however, I did not hear if they held them or what.

Anybody know?

1. Not Syrian, "Middle Eastern".
The code term for Israeli.

2. Oh, mighty decoder
I believe the original poster is referring to this piece of trash racist article about a group of SYRIAN musicians that caused some fuss last week:

http://www.womenswallstreet.com/WWS/article_landing.aspx?titleid=1&articleid=711

There is a great rant about this racist lunatic Annie Jacobson's unbelievable spiel, written by a pilot, here:

http://www.salon.com/tech/col/smith/2004/07/21/askthepilot95/index.html

Denver Dave, no doubt your indignation over anti-Semitism will extend to righteous indignation about the way these Syrian fellows have been made a bogeyman commodity among our lunatic right wingers, yes?

Seeing as you got the code wrong in this case...

7. I am talking about the Moonie Times propaganda
<http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040721-101403-1508r.htm>

"Scouting jetliners for new attacks

By Audrey Hudson
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Flight crews and air marshals say Middle Eastern men are staking out airports, probing security measures and conducting test runs aboard airplanes for a terrorist attack."

And, no, I don't think the Moonie Times is covering for Syrians, here. So, my interpretation of what the wrong wing code words are cover for stands.

4. They were a band with a gig to play in LA
They were thoroughly investigated and let go. This is, of course, just a case of suspicion based on ethnicity only. I hope all the Muslims and other middle eastern people in this country vote against the current bigots-in-charge.

5. Wow, didn't know it was so controversial. I just saw a man on
one of the news shows the other day that was a passenger and only got to hear the first of it. I did not mean it in a racist way.

As far as Sirians, aren't they that group in Canada that claimed they cloned the first human baby? (Just goes to show why we should always use our spell check).

:dunce:

6. The Syrian Wayne Newton--they WERE musicians
Edited on Thu Jul-22-04 09:17 PM by DrBB
What an utterly assinine story this truly is. First time I read it, I thought the whole thing was a set up for "My god, what a racist doink I was!" when it turned out that the guys were members of a Syrian lounge band. Instead, the exact opposite, with lots of completely unsubstantiated speculation that they were only "pretending" to be musicians and the whole thing was a "dry run" for a terra-ist attack.

Well, um, er... foaming-mouthed bloviators of the Limbaugh line notwithstanding...

Nope.

edited for link efficiency.
