Ok my hopefully turning more to the left hubby asked for "crediable" links
We just had the politcal talk with his southern baptist parents.. i thought i was going to lose it on them... AACCKK!!! but my hubby is still turning SLOWLY... well i started talking about bushs alleged drug abuse and all his past and he said "would you give me some info on that froma credible sourse?" and he said it not as "oh i dont believe it PROVE IT" but more as a "really i would like to read more " kind of way..
so are there any credible sourse that has this or are all the records "accidently " distroyed?
what other links do you think i could give a changing political guy.. not to scare him off but more to inform him...
tia!

1. Here's a good source for info on Bush (and family) misdeeds
www.topplebush.com

They provide links to stories in the media and on other web sites.

This Section contains many of the best articles we have found on these Bush topics. Select a category to view a complete and up-to-date list of articles contained in that category. Also, you should check multiple categories if you are looking for a particular article as some overlap categories or would fit several. Also for more good information on Bush, we recommend reading this free online book called: Bush Guide 2004. And for one of the best sources of early Bush family history, we strongly recommend: George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography. It's a free download in .pdf format.

2. I've asked the same question as your hubby
So far, no one's brought anything remotely conclusive to my attention.

3. a few links
No absolute documentation remains/has been uncovered...I don't think. Here's a salon story on his cocaine use:

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/10/18/cocaine/

The real giveaway was that he could never just answer yes or no. He was always evasive and his answer kept changing..then it was like he was counting back to when he had last done it so he could say
he would have passed a drug test in the past x amount of years. Here's another link:

http://www.progress.org/archive/drc12.htm

And there are excerpts from diff. media sources here. If you don't give him this link itself (it might be too anti-bush for someone just turning), you could probably use some of the quotes from other sources listed:

4. Fortunate Son
Fortunate Son: George W. Bush and the Making of an American President
by J. H. Hatfield.
I haven't read this book myself, but I hear it has a lot of details about his misspent youth.
Also 'Shrub' by Molly Ivins, it's a lot shorter and more fun to read

8. The only evidence of the quality you're after
is Bush's own evasions on the topic during the campaign. (I'm assuming that hubby is skeptical about alternative press sources)

When asked whether he had used cocaine, instead of saying "no" he (or his campaign?) said that he could have truthfully answered no to the drug use question had he applied for a WH job when his father was elected President. (Meaning in 1988)

So a reporter looked up the employment form he was talking about, and the drug use question he was referring to was "have you used illegal drugs in the last seven years?" So then the reporter asked whether he could make the same statement about when his father was elected VICE President (in 1980), and the campaign said they had covered the question and would not be commenting further.

So he has, for all practical purposes, said that he didn't use cocaine between 1981 and 2000, but was unwilling to push that back to 1973.

That's from memory, so small details may differ.
