Name your favorite October Surprise |
|
(as in the most hypocritical, sleazy, self-serving, etc.)
One I haven't seen a lot of pub on is Michael Moore being sued for slander, libel, fraud, mattress-tag removing--charges will be 100% without merit, will be thrown out (after the election), but will receive national coverage for a few days and give pause to the braindead who can't see through it in under two seconds.
Other chestnuts:
1) OBL "caught" 2) Gas prices plummet 3) Saddam mass grave "found" 4) Planted WMDs "found" 5) Inconsequential item from Kerry's "checkered past" surfaces--more of a surprise if this doesn't happen 6) Dead rat found in bottle of Heinz ketchup
Did I miss anything?

Li'l Johnny don't look so French. Plus they'd have wasted all that money on making Kerry look bad and unpresidential. And you know how Republicans hate to waste m--
Oh never mind.

I'm surprised their Saudi buddies haven't dropped oil prices yet. I suppose that's what the whole Venezuela thing is about. (But Chavez is still a leftist version of W, if you ask me)

14. Massive terror attack is a risky one |
|
and could actually work to Kerry's benefit. Hasn't it been the GOP's mantra that the US is 'safer now'?

16. Ah, but remember that 50 million votes will be counted with no audit trail |
|
and all they need is something to "explain" why the vote differs from the polls. And a terror attack provides a rationalization for the next escalation and the inevitable draft.

|
is the candy I'll get on Halloween. None of those look too favoritey :)
Maybe some super duper new 'terra' threat. Maybe even cancel the election early so we can get use to the idea of our permanent dictatorship...

13. how far back from the election dare they go? |
|
it's got to be close enough so that nobody strays from rallying around the leader, which will happen, no matter what
it's got to be no more than a few weeks before, yes?
otherwise, people will realize that, for all their talk, they DIDN't protect us AGAIN!

going to be something to smear Kerry's record instead of bolster Bush's.....thats been the theme of the Bush campaign so far. They might catch Bin Laden between now and the election, but I'm beginning to think it won't be that big of a bounce. Bush will have nothing to do with his capture and hopefully someone will be quick to point that out. Not to mention that more than a few eyebrows will be raised at the more than convenient timing of the capture.
I think that the electorate is so polarized that there will be no huge bounces, surprise or no surprise. In fact, I think that the draft issue could end up being key. If 18 year old high school kids start equating a 2nd Bush term with them being drafted to go fight in the Middle East, they will get out a vote for Kerry. There's been no talk about this outside of DU for the most part.

But what if Rove and Co decide to float a rumor that Kerry's cancer has returned. It would force Kerry to deny the rumor, but the seed will have been planted, and brought back into people's minds.
