"I have just this minute seen Governor Kean, the chair of the Congressional Investigative Committee on the 9/11 tragedies, tell a television interviewer that what hobbled our competence, understandings and the entire airforce and space command’s capability to scramble jets through routine procedure, upon learning (almost immediately after the fact,) that 4 aircraft had been hijacked on the Eastern Seabord…was “a lack of imagination.”

...

Gosh, it was Unimaginable to even NSA Condaleeza Rice who received the memo titled “Bin Laden Plans To Attack U.S.” Gosh, she didn’t even have to imagine it; everyone else in the security, political and literature world already had imagined it. Going back YEARS. And HANDED it right to her. Imagine that. She says she couldn't. Is she that stuipid, really? I imagine not.

I imagine that the Secret Service, with the understandings that it’s agents are expected to catch a bullet themselves, rather than let anything harm the President, would have immediately swarmed Mr. Bush and hustled him out that classroom photo-op…as is absolutely essential, and routine…and in a FLASH, my friends...UNLESS it was understood that the President was not really in danger, despite the attack in progress on the WTC, and a plane heading for the Washington area.

Wow, now I’m imaging all sorts of things.

I'm imagining thousands of American service families in indescribable pain and grief, and I imagine this will continue in the name of stolen oil, rather than whatever spin they imagine you will buy."

It is excellent.

2. well said
the 9-11 memes are ridiculous:

"A lack of imagination" is the newest one, intended to replace:

"We weren't able to connect the dots", which seems to have been disproven by the commission's feeble efforts to bring forth the truth. Obviously the FBI, CIA, Pentagon and Bush were able to connect the dots. It's always easier when you are making the dots yourself.

I'm also still looking for an answer to Kean's insane statement on NPR yesterday that they were unable to figure out how the hijackers got funded.

Isn't Ahmed Mahmoud, then head of Pakistani IS, well known to have provided 100 G's to Atta via Omar Sheikh? I thought this was accepted fact. I also thought that various wire transfers and bank accounts had been located soon after the identities of the hijackers had been revealed.

The Firesign Theatre had it right.

Everything You Know Is Wrong.

3. To give my 2cents in favor of the 911 Commission....
I believe the Commission, all politicians, decided on what they believed is best for the country or what was less of risk to present to the citizens. Therefore, they only came up with recommendations to fix what went wrong. The problem is that they may be recommending to fix something that is not broke; the CIA, FBI, etc. All these agencies are the foundation of these country, for ever. They are there to protect us, the citizens. The white house people are easily kicked out every 4 or 8 years, and off to make millions on the connections they have made while serving in office.

What is really broke are our dirty politicians, beginning with bush/cheney. The 911 republicans and democrats negotiated a neutral settlement so as to not blame bush/cheney. Instead, they settled on placing the blame on Clinton/bush and our dumb multi zillion government agencies. There's no responsibility, no accountability. Just lots of hot air.
