How come there was no mention of the Hart/Rudman Commision
in the 9/11 Report??? Had Bush implemented the recommendations, 9/11 could have been PREVENTED!!!!

It was a gross omission....GROSS....

An ounce of Prevention is worth $850 Billion in Cure....?

WTF?

3. I don't recall anyone mentioning it on the tube......
I think it was purposely left out hoping we would overlook the omission.

As the Leader of America, its his job to PROTECT US.... not let shit happen and then fix it. Thats Reactionary//// he was supposed to be in the Proactive Stage/Level....

This is what happens when we have a Myopic Leader who also suffers from Hearing, Comprehension, and Delusion....among other things.

26. 3 Rudman references
In the friggin' notes. I searched Rudman specifically looking for that report and when I got the name 3 times, in the NOTES, I stopped reading. If it didn't mention Hart-Rudman, it's total bullshit as far as I'm concerned.

10. Like the Hart/Rudman thing was a bi partisan attempt to address the terror
issue...for Bush to reject it and NOT implement a plausible Terror Prevention Program is MALFEASANCE of the Worst Order.....

I recall Cheney was supposed to address this....

12. Cheney refused to address it, I recall...the report, that is...
He and Bush pretty much poo-poo'ed Hart/Rudman...and said they would set up their own thing w/ Cheney in charge...which they never quite got around to doing anything with...then September 11th happened.

but truly, you still weren't supposed to remember that...you just refuse to go shopping don't you? ;)

8. Is it not there at all, or jus not in the executive summary?
"Executive Summary" is defined as: "That's our story and we're sticking to it, no matter what all the rest of the data says, even if it shows we're wrong (ESPECIALLY if it shows we're wrong)."

13. Here's what Gary Hart said on CNN-on easter sunday this year
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 03:45 PM by Generator
Why Easter sunday? Huh? Big day for the newswatchers huh? I happened to catch this show.

SERWER: Senator, quick last question. Any reaction from the Bush administration to your take -- to your story?

HART: Well, very little because I don't think the press has confronted them with this. You know, it's been a great mystery to me how the 9/11 Commission could get to the stage of it's work and not call on the U.S. Commission on National Security which forecast these attacks. And I don't think they're going to call on us for -- to find out why we issued these warnings unless some reporters and journalists ask them that question. Why aren't you listening to the commission that forecast this?

CAFFERTY: Have you ask them to appear?

HART: Informally. I've asked why they haven't invited us to appear. But, it's a fine line. I'm -- I don't want to be in the position of seeking any kind of publicity, that's not the point. I would be very happy for other commissioners on this commission to appear, but I think they have to do it publicly. It's been suggested to me if I wanted to drop by and talk to the staff behind the scenes they would welcome that, but that only after I had made the inquiry. I think it's totally unsatisfactory. This commission cannot be taken seriously, be asked to be taken seriously, as a commission, if it doesn't take its predecessor seriously.

There's also more about him talking to Rice five days before 9/11, and her saying, "I'll talk to the Vice President."

***
Before I saw this I didn't even know about Hart/Rudman?? No need to tell the American people anything is there? Easter Sunday-it's so fricking ovbious.

14. I was not even aware of this commission
But did a little research into the matter - see below - take note of the DATE!

http://www.emergency.com/2001/21stcentury_rpt.htm

snip -
A bipartisan panel led by former US senators Warren B. Rudman and Gary Hart on Wednesday called for the creation of a Cabinet-level agency to assume responsibility for defending the United States against the increasing likelihood of terrorist attacks in the country. The commission making the recommendation included high-ranking military and former Cabinet secretaries. Their report warned bluntly that terrorists probably will attack the US with nuclear, chemical or biological weapons at some point within the next 25 years.

The commission proposed a complete redesign of the National Guard to provide the proposed new "Homeland Security Agency" with U.S.-based troops to combat those who threaten a nation that for more than two centuries was isolated from attack by two oceans. The panel outlined a far-reaching reorganization of the Pentagon, State Department, National Security Council and other agencies, saying that they have become bloated and unfocused. The report even urged Congress to streamline its own committee structure to keep interference in national security matters at a minimum.

22. As I remember, we heard about Hart/ Rudman again

right after 9/11, but then the media evidently realized it made Bush* look bad. (It took them a little time to figure this out as they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer.)

Cheney was told to handle anti-terrorism but he "had other priorities" (just as in the sixties & seventies, when he couldn't be bothered to do military service.) His main priority, of course, was meeting with Ken Lay and other crooks to plan an energy policy for the Bush* administration. Has anyone ever heard what this policy is? I know they won't tell us who was on the panel, but I've never heard what the policy is.

Of course it was omiitted. And omitted purposefully.

Lee "Whitewash Bushfriend" Hamilton (a turncoat Democrat and Bushevik Loyalist) I'm sure said something like "for the good of the country, we cannot turn this into a partisan blame-fest during an election year".

And so it went.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

32. DUers need to remember this! Bring it up when talking with 'pubs,

and/or in LTE, calls to C-SPAN, letters to your senators & rep, etc.

ALSO remember that AL Gore was in charge of a committee that made recommendations about improving airport security, to which the GOP-dominated Congress said "We shouldn't waste the money -- there are no hijackers now."

That's TWO reports commissioned by the Clinton administration that were shot down and ignored by the GOP, reports that could have saved 3,000 lives in 2001, plus thousands in Afghanistan and Iraq.

When someone says "Have you forgotten September 11?" WE should we ready with "No, but do you remember the Hart/Rudman report and the Gore report???

Unlike Dick Cheney, Al Gore did what he was supposed to do when his boss said to look into security measures.

33. You got it man, I do it all the time and the Pubs I talk to have a dose of
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS when I mention/remind them of the Hart/Rudman thingy. This cannot be denied. It is a fact. So is the Aug Meeting with glaring headlines..."Osama is coming to America like real bad". So is the Clinton/Gore warnings and info passed along.

But the Bush guys had a dose of Superiority Complex and rejected good advice to meander along with their own shitty plans...which turned out to be..."Watch my Drive". Now they claim innocence, diffuse with "Its THEM TOO", and distract with deception.

Its mind boggling how Americans can fall for this shit.
