If Ashcroft is thrown in Prison...

Ashcroft has been revealed lying to the 9/11 commission. Ashcroft will hopefully face probes and possibly a trial, and then he may as well be incarcerated. However, it's not time to celebrate yet. I think Bush will most likely pardon him and use a line his father used when he pardoned all the people in the Contra scandal. He will say something like: "I think it's time for the country to move on.", I think Bush is capable of saying as something as atrocious as this, don't you?

1. What's more, all the Republicans will agree
And call Democrats "pessimistic and shrill" for wanting justice for Ashcroft.

2. never happen
you can't prove a lie when he was giving his impression of things. He didn't flat-out lie about a factual matter.

3. WHO is going to mention it? Who is going to follow up? Now they will
use the idea that the report did not blame anybody to say all we have to worry about is to get an intelligence Czar to do Bush's job, and the rest is a "dangerous, unpatriotic, distraction."

4. Prison abuses are going to reach a new low
Guards will tie inmates to chairs and force them to listen to Ashcroft sing. :scared:

7. Given the likelihood of a pardon...
... it's not likely to happen. However, if he did wind up in the slam, perhaps the question to ask him as the door closes behind him would be, "did you remember your bottle of Crisco?" :P
