I watched O'Reilly for the final time, last night
Edited on Sat Jul-24-04 10:17 PM by JohnnyRingo
...I've watched him in the past, off and on, largely for the entertainment and humor value.
Obcenities and gestures pointed in the general direction of the TV usually kept my blood pressure at a safe enough level to get through the hour.

Last night, however, was the end. I've given it a day to cool off, but he stepped over the line, and I'll never see him again, ever.

It happened at the beginning of the show, in what he calls his "Talking Points".
At issue was a recent poll indicating that people of foreign countries held the notion that America is "evil" and they hate us, In particular youths in France and Canada.

After admonishing the afore mentioned countries for their "ignorance", Bill went on to smugly place sole blame for our reputation on Michael Moore and his "enablers"!!

What an ASS!!...He ended the segment looking into the camera and saying something like: "I hope Moore and his followers are happy for giving our country a bad name".

By now my mouth was open, my eyes unblinking, unable to believe what I'd just heard. I was even at a loss for a strong enough curse.

As I found a pen to write down, to the best of my recollection, the highlights of his rant, he was talking to someone about what "far left bomb-throwers" the NAACP was. (I imagine he was to tell us that was why Buxh refused to meet with them.)

I went OFF and began frantically searching for the remote, clicking him away, forever.

I considered writing him an e-mail, but decided that simply turning the channel, never to return, was the most effective, personally satisfying action possible. (I doubt his minions bother him with discouraging messages, anyway.)

I'm sorry this is so lengthy, but I feel like I've cleansed myself and kicked away a mind poisoning drug, and I felt a need to relate.

Hi....I'm Johnny, and I used to watch Bill O'Reilly.

On edit...sorry mods, I meant to put this in lounge

1. I know that you have been told never
to watch that garbage over and over again! It's all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out! Now go to your room.

2. Michael Moore is the reason
it's going badly in Iraq. If he would just shut up, then America would do what needs to be done. you know, pulling out of cities that get too "rough" and telling the press to stop reporting defeat.

9. Hhahahahahaa...Yeah, That hit the spot
I was amused when 'ol Bill announced first announced that he would "put his French wine in the basement and not serve it to his guests". "Dumping it out would be ridiculous"

Funny how he never targeted the German's and called for a boycott of Audis and Mercedes. Hmmmm

13. he's clearly delusional
perhaps clinically insane?

Transcript Excerpt from Fox News Channel Broadcast
The O'Reilly Factor, April 27, 2004.

O'REILLY: Now if the government -- if your government harbors these two deserter , doesn't send them back ... there will be a boycott of your country which will hurt your country enormously. France is now feeling that sting.

MALLICK: I don't think for a moment such a boycott would take place because we are your biggest trading partners.

O'REILLY: No, it will take place, madam. In France ...

MALLICK: I don't think that your French boycott has done too well ...

O'REILLY: ...they've lost billions of dollars in France according to "The Paris Business Review."

MALLICK: I think that's nonsense.

6. Blaming Moore for America bashing is like blaming O'Reilly for ...
... bad journalism.

It's been around for a LONG time. Sometimes some asshole like Bush throws Kerosene on it. And BTW, for country bashing O'Reilly takes the cake. His diatribes against France, Spain and Canada are appalling and ignorant. He even entertains a personal belief that he has launched boycotts that have harmed these countries when their trade with the US has actually INCREASED!!!!!

The only country basher who can top this is Bob Novack who spent two weeks after the Haiti coups bashing that country simply because "He had been there". He really never gave any specific information about Aristide. He just pointed out that unlike some other "reporters" he had been there so his opinion was obviously informed and therefore ... NEWS.

Finally, if anything I believe that Moore's film will actually soften America in foreigners eyes. They were getting the idea that we were all assholes who bought Bush's shit. Moore's overwhelming indictment and it's INCREDIBLE vote of support from viewers shows foreigners that WE'RE NOT ALL ASSHOLES!!!!!

Fox News will NEVER be worldwide like CNN. No one overseas would EVER watch Fox News.

7. Sorry to say I saw the end of it, when he advocated boycotting
Canadian products. Hey Asshole, we stop buying maple syrup and they stop sending electricity our way. Dumber than shit, that's o"Reilly. Remember when the power went out from Canada, it was the end of the world. In fact, I hope they do shut it off and tell the American people it was Reilly's fault. what a dumb piece of shit.

another. He is just like the most outlandish tinfoil hat wacky folks here, but he has a friggin TV show - it's unbelievable. The ONLY way Fox could EVER get their reputation back at all would be to fire him and put Hannity and Colmes on at like 3 AM. I'm glad you came to your senses though!

11. Don't forget, it's CBS's fault that Iraqis hate us
because CBS broadcast some photos from Abu Ghraib. Like nobody in Iraq would have noticed that their relatives and neighbors were being tortured and murdered if CBS hadn't told them.

Michael Moore and CBS. Yeah, they're real traitors, all right.

/sarcasm off.

P.S. I am related to a Johnny Ringo. Do you live in the Bay Area?

12. I haven't turned on Faux News
Propaganda since the idiot-in-chief was appointed by the Supreme Court. I just could not handle the LIES anymore. I haven't watched it since....except for a Primary debate they had. I HAD to turn them on. That's it. I haven't missed a thing except HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.

You will feel much better not watching, I guarantee it.

16. When Moore saw O'Reilly walking out of an advanced screening of F-9/11...
...Moore followed him into the theater's lobby and confronted him about it. Embarrassed, O'Reilly attempted to change the subject by asking Moore when he would appear on the "Factor." Moore replied that he'd go on O'Reilly's show if the Fox host went back into the theater and watched the rest of "F-9/11." O'Reilly replied by leaving the building.

Not long after, the right-wing press reported that Michael Moore was too much of a coward to appear on "The O'Reilly Factor." Lying-ass douche bags! :grr::nuke:

18. Just last night!?!
I do not understand how anybody can tolerate Foxnews at all. I haven't watched it in ages and ages. I am going to make one exception, election night. I want to watch their little eyeballs bulge and their heads spin when they say "Foxnews is calling the election for John Kerry". WOHOOO!!!

It's everyone else's fault that the world hates America except for the people who's fault it really is. O'Reilly is such a loser!
