A new idea for DU. Let's collectively write the "9/11 OMISSION Report"

It could be a pinned thread, then we should make a Web page that all can read for the election!

People can then also cut and paste and email the media and write LTTEs.

Lot of ammo here -- Richard Clarke's NYT op-ed piece today, Sibel Edmonds, all the things Ruppert and others have dug up, all the things we here at DU know.

Otherwise we're depending on Ruppert and others to do something effective. The trillion-dollar court case against the Saudis by the families will be way after the election.

Our long article would just be a to-the-point overview of the whitewash.

And we would call it the "9/11 Omission Report"! I think the Omission Report will get at least to Randi Rhodes, who would then direct people to DU!

7. web sites are free/cheap

You can get free websites at GeoCities, Bravenet, and more. They, will, of course, have intrusive ads. Otherwise you can get an ad-free website for about $5 a month.

Suggestion: If you plan to refer to an online article that might disappear, e.g., Yahoo news, you might consider making a screen cap of the article to save it for posterity.

DU might consider creating a new topic area for this project. Threads would be dedicated to specific issues where members could update with new/newly-found information.

8. Time is Not Cheap..........

Web sites are cheap, but sites on Geocities etc. are a joke and get no respect. You have to do it right, you need to get a real web host with a real domain name.

I know a bannerless pop up free web host that is free up to 1GB a month. After the 1GB you have to pay for extra bandwidth.

What I would charge for if I did the site is my time, it's a lot of work to make a web site and then keep it updated. You will probably have a hard time trying to find someone to do the web site for free.

I know someone who might provide the funding, I just sent him an e-mail asking him to look at this thread. I will let you guys know if he says yes. If he does, I will do the web site.

The web host I know of is called:

If you buy the domain name through them it's $25 a year, but you get free bannerless web hosting, and no pop ups either. If you pay for 2 years or more you also get a discount. I think we should start with a year and see if the site takes off.

They also have an ultra hosting plan that has 1000mb of storage and 20GB of bandwidth a month. It's $7.95 a month, but you have to buy it for 12 months at a time.

I think the best thing to do is get the free plan, then upgrade later if you need to. Why spend money if you don't need to, if the site starts using more than 1GB of bandwidth a month you can just buy more bandwidth or upgrade to the ultra hosting plan. Bandwidth is pretty cheap, you can upgrade to 5GB a month for $9 a month.

If the site ever needs more than 1GB a month it would be best to just upgrade to the ultra hosting plan for $7.95 a month. Of course that is just my opinion, and I will not do the web site for free. And I don't see anyone offering to do it for free.

We need to stay away from wild conspiracy stuff like a plane never hit the pentagon, and Bush let 9-11 happen on purpose etc. We could say he did nothing to stop it and he ignored terrorism until 9-11. But it's crazy to think he let 9-11 happen on purpose.

I am surprised more people are not interested in this, it seems like more people would want to do it.

I bet the repukes refused to sign on to the report unless a lot of this stuff was removed from the report. I don't remember a word about the Hart/Rudman report being discussed in the report or at the press conference.

I bet they also refused to sign it if it blamed Bush for not stopping the attacks.

That is the stuff we should focus on, not the conspiracy stuff that make you look nuts. As I told Dems will win, we could report some of that stuff, but just list the link and the article, do not add any editorial comments to it.

I am stunned they did not mention the Hart/Rudman report. We should cover that pretty good, it makes Bush look bad because it did not come out until 1-20-01. Then they ignored it, and the Bush terrorism team never even had a meeting.

And if your point is that NOTHING was redacted, that is untrue. The names of sources in the 8/6 PDB were redacted (there may be other examples).

Disregarding Sibel Edmonds in a "9/11 Omissions Report" is ridiculous, IMO.

We should start with a synopsis of the "Caveman did it and the boosh people didn't do anything to stop them theory".

Take the lines we know are false and provide - line by line - the facts proving the falsehoods. That's a start.

Later, we can add individual's pages detailing different theories.

If you start out discounting other theories from the website, you start out losing a lot of learned researchers and that will lead to failure.

As much as possible, let's use the same format as the commission's site. It is public property and therefore not illegal to copy. Will save a ton of work and will end up looking like the official site.

Let's do it. $100 bucks gets it going and most of the text and links can be run through DU's 9/11 forum.

Just let it be known that the focus of the new site will be a line by line counter of the 9/11 report and will grow as researchers see fit. I think the 9/11 forum regulars will join in and make it work.

I had a freeper friend come over yesterday toting a copy of the commission report. I told him it was a waste of time to read it and compared it to the Warren Commission. Now, I need to back up my statements. I did tell him and his girlfriend that Sibel Edmunds was my new heroine.

The truth will not be out on Kennedy for probably another 40 years if at all. The truth of 911 will probably not come out either, but many will have the knowledge that the b*sh regime did nothing to help this country.
