Michael Moore WILL BE welcome at the Democratic Convention

Moore said Saturday that the Democratic Party is welcoming him, even though he first believed a "low-level, disgruntled person" was trying to deny him the access he sought to the convention.

"It was really just a matter of I made the request so late," Moore said Saturday from his home in northern Michigan. He said the party's response to him has been "overwhelmingly positive."

Initially, Moore said he'd heard that a convention staffer was keeping him out because he supported retired Gen. Wesley Clark before Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry locked up the nomination.

That rumor turned out to not be true, he said.

2. Glad to hear it. I know he's controversial, but he's done more than

any other person to point the general public to the reasons why Bush should not be elected (and Kerry should). He deserves an honored place at the convention, controversial or not.

Several thoughts

It reflects well on Kerry. He isn't shying away from a registered Democrat who has been an extremely successful artist and who, by the way, has earned over 100 mil with a film that does nothing by help Kerry. And, it allows Kerry to appear magnanimous and unafraid of being overshadowed by any celebrity attending.

It doesn't give Michael Moore ammunition ( and rightfully so). MM has proved to be force to be reckoned with, why antagonize him, when he is generally supportive of the DNC's goals?

The best case scenario...MM tries to go to the Freeper convention in August...we all know what will happen and again the Dems will look much better by comparison.

Denying MM admission would aggravate and upset many Dems and perhaps quite a few left leaning independents. How could the DNC spin a refusal to allow MM to attend? MKJ

4. Michael Moore has opened the eyes of many

people who were on the fence on who they would vote for. Because of him and F911, they are voting for Kerry. He should be welcome with arms wide open! We need to start EMBRACING our activists...and stop alienating them. THIS IS A GOOD THING. IMCPO

7. Why not allow him to attend? Michael Moore, I think, has too much

sense to allow himself to become a 'sideshow' at the convention. And I doubt anything that he would say would be detrimental to the Kerry/Edwards campaign. He always speaks logically, intelligently, and calmly. If he were't allowed to attend it would alienate a lot of people. I doubt that they would all run out a vote for bush* in the election, but why make waves? Look what it did here last night. Panic, hysteria, and ill-will everwhere.

The Kerry/Edwards camp is strong enough to withstand any nonsense that the bush* liars can come up with.

People are sure being reactionary lately. There were a number of people who kept trying to calm people down, telling them to wait until the heard from MM, that there may not be anything to the story. And there wasn't.

"low level" functionary may have tried to deny Moore "the (type of) access" he sought. So what? Why make a media stink? Never any real intention to block Moore from the convention by the Party or the Kerry Campaign. Probably just part of the negotiations about the "type" of credentials. Moore should be neither a super delegate, Michigan delegate, or speaker. Not sure he is a registered DEM at all...probably independent or Green. Welcome with open arms as a journalist or documentarian.
