News reports per 911 commission state: bush reading the report this
weekend.

Two questions... since we KNOW he is lazy and hates reading "policy" (in the 2000 campaign he stated that policy bores him, and his verbage per many complicated issues indicates that he still resists reading policy)

1. What form will his "reading" the report take?

and

2. How quickly - and in what way - will he make a public statement that indicates that he didn't really understand (or even bother reading) it?

13. Actually, reading specialists encourage reading aloud to improve
comprehension, especially when difficult vocabulary is presented. Maybe if Chimpy reads it aloud, he might understand it.

18. My Pet Goat was being read to him and I don't he comprehended
that book or the events of 9/11. Maybe Karen Hughes is reading it to him.

3. Do they have a Cliff's Notes version yet?
Or in coloring book form?

4. I think that is Condi's job
to create the condensed soundbite form - perhaps even with paint by numbers included to make sure it is "engaging"...

6. Here's Condescending's Executive summary for *
"It was not your fault.

It was the CIA."

Wasn't Tenet doing a fabulous job?

9. No, it's simply this: "You got away with it, sir".
that's all he cares about.

5. The Readers' Digest version.

Hell, he couldn't even read a page and a half national security memo called "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S."

7. Which is exactly why I found that the "he will read it" in the news
coverage so interesting. So easy to debunk - and easy to later use as an example of HOW LAZY he is ... EVEN WHEN THE STAKES ARE AS HIGH AS TRYING TO PREVENT ANOTHER ATTACK ON U.S. SOIL.

So while I ask the question in jest - I do think a little discussion now - and then later when he makes it clear that he hasn't read it (after statements made that he would) - could be very helpful in terms of political/election campaign strategy (in terms of OUR efforts at swinging voters).

10. His main job was to protect the USA from being attacked in the First Place
That he rejected the Hart/Rudman Commission Findings is an Indictment in itself. To not take action after being warned in the Aug 2001 meeting is gross malfeasance of the worst order. Had he warned Americans of this information, the passengers would have known what to do...that the terrorists were not just hijacking bit on a suicide mission. The airport screeners would have been more diligent...etc etc. His arrogance cost America big time....

Bush dropped the ball and he/Condi are trying to weasel their way out
with lame excuses.

11. Sadly
lots of folks aren't listening closely enough to catch them in the act. Or want to believe them (b/c recognizing that they intentionally dropped the ball - and what they have done since then is even worse - is just too psychologically destabilizing for them to handle.)

17. Its starting to catch up. More and more people are truly finding out of
the ineptness of this fool of a Prez.

More and more are seeing F911 and seeing with their own eyes of the Choking Leader we got during the 911 attack....he choked and we saw he choked....(rolls eyes) Damn....

Come, we go drink, I buy

12. If there are plenty of illustrations he actually may read it.

But, as the ancient Chinese philosopher reputedly
said, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

14. How will we know to look for the indications
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 02:03 PM by salin
if we don't focus on them...

And yes, I am sure that he will give indications. He will mistate what the reports findings are. He will make claims that are not backed up in the report - and those claims will be HUGE misapplications that either indicate nonreading, or will indicate his limited intellectual abilities of comprehension. I predict that he will do these things in relation to "proving that he was right" all along (which is his MO).

on edit: sorry for the jump in logic in this post (from illustrations - to indications of whether or not he reads it)... clarifying that I realize the jump in logic might not make sense (but when I typed it - it made sense inside my head... rereading though - see that it might be confusing.)

15. Dubya does whatever's politically expedient.
Reichsfuhrer Karl Rove will instruct "Daddy's Li'l pResident" to tell the "liberal" media that he is moving heaven and earth, then never budget it and forget about it. Just like hydrogen fuel cell technology and manned landings on the moon and Mars.

16. Excellent point
per where to look - to later point out the lack of seriousness to which bushco takes issues of national security. How they budget - esp when they want even more tax cuts... when way national security against tax cuts for his buddies... the tax cuts always seem to win. Unless of course the national security funding is tied to BIG DEFENSE contracts (particularly those with which Carlyle has its fingers in) then the odds are that the tax cuts and national security items are given equal weight...
