I'm spending my afternoon arguing with a Freeper. Has it been determined that the documents that were taken were copies or were they the orignals? Is there a source on that?

The only source on anything that a freeper will believe is OxyRush or faux, and then only if it fits its deluded belief system of hatred, ignorance and intolerance.
Seriously, I heard they were copies too (the archives never has originals for perusal -- only copies.) But I have no link.
