Will Air America ever find a CLEVELAND radio affiliate?
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 03:17 PM by NEOBuckeye
For a heavily Democratic, blue collar region known as "The Heart of Rock and Roll" this remains one of the most neglected metro regions in the country in terms of progressive radio. We have ONE liberal man on the radio now -- Joe Finan on WNIR 100.1 FM from 3 to 7 weekdays -- who is about to RETIRE, and with the Fairness Doctrine shelved, there's no guarantee that he'll be replaced by another liberal. All the other political talk hosts on this station are smug conservatives, which seems to be a strong trend. These guys, along with the other 98% of the so-called "talk" radio hosts here are the ever-so-typical angry and ignorant WASPs/rednecks with their incessant blathering about those "damn liberal, peacenik, Bush-hating, queer, tree-hugging, soy-eating commies."

If any of the Air America executives read this cry for help, we could definitely use some "fresh air" in Northeastern Ohio. I'm sure that the vast majority of the 3 million people in this region would agree with me. You certainly can't go wrong in Greater Cleveland.

1. Hell, they can't even get a Chicago affiliate back
And Illinois (Chicago in general) is an easy win for Kerry. Most of the talk radio here is RW.

5. Yeah, absence in Chicago rankles
For a home run state, they sure are doing a complete ignore of Chicago. They started off with an almost comically mismanaged fiasco, with an RW in the management, and they've been gone here for 3 months or more. The K/E campaign would be well advised to use their influence and funds to get it going again ASAP.

3. I'm waiting for them to
come back on the air in LA. Here for a few days on a weak AM station with incredibly poor reception....then gone.

4. I hear ya
I wish they had one too. Down Lima way it is bad enough to have nothing but clear channel stations to listen to, I got so sick of it I bought an XM radio just to tune out the stupid country music (if that's what you want to call it now) and RW spew that was constantly on. I would love it if they started advertising here in OH more and opened a couple of stations.
