Where To Get Best Convention Coverage? |
|
I would just turn on C-Span (they are covering it gavel to gavel aren't they?) and watch but to tell the truth I would like at least a little commentary. I'd like to hear what is coming up, what is going on around the convention, all the ins and outs of the next few days. Where is the best place to find unbiased coverage? I have little hope for CNN, I don't know what PBS is doing. Who else. Obviously not FOX.
How are you planning to keep up with the events of next week?

3. How much coverage will AAR have? |
|
Are they doing all the prime time coverage? It'll be interesting to hear Franken's take on things as well as Randi Rhodes' viewpoint.

I haven't really gotten a sense of what coverage is going to be like. I guess I'll have to go home and study the weekly TV schedule from the local paper.

4. I'll be watching PBS every night for 3 hours' coverage |
|
plus occasional literate commentary.
The networks will only show an hour a night. Big of them.
My guess is that the networks will have their anchors do most of the talking, too. Screw 'em.

11. What kind of video coverage are you going to stream on truthout? |
|
I'm already enjoying your written commentary, Will. I noticed the video links.... What's planned?

12. Two camera people for TO showed up tonight |

They will be with me - and off on their own - for the duration. Events, scenes, interviews...whatever we come across.

7. PBS is gavel to gavel..no commentary as well |
|
Probably the "best" way would be to watch C-span or PBS for a while and every hour or so, flip channels to watch a few minutes of criticism..and then go back to watching it "real"..
Most of the "prompter readers" will be playing the "contrarian role" (the fair and balanced thing, yaknow?)...of course by the time the repubes have their lovefest, the media will probably have decided that "contrary" was not the way to go, so they will have a "love-in" for **// :puke:

Although it'll be interesting to see how the major networks compress their version of the "highlights".

8. I would imagine that ... |

Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 07:07 PM by ABB_15501
Kos and Atrios will have some very interesting insights, as will Josh Marshall and William Pitt. Will has already posted at least once here. I think this is where I'll look for synopses. Should there be a single thread title used, with numbers? ...like the Plame threads?
PS. See post number 6 above...

9. I Would Hate To See A Single Thread |
|
I would really hate that (as I do with the other ones that are out there).
Things are going to happen in the next week. There is likely to be some disturbance of the convention, there is probably a heightened likelyhood of attack. There is a good chance the Republicans will spring all manner of unholy shit next week. I do not want to see the events of the moment hidden in a mile-long thread.

10. Not single thread- just a single title that would help us follow it. <nt> |

16. What? You don't like threads that are titled "Did you hear that?!" |
|
I just *love* those thread titles!
And when you click on them, the message says "I canNOT believe the dude just said that!"
And that's it.

17. This site says they will be streaming it online: |
|
http://www.hdnnc.org/index.php -- but I doubt it will be much different from C-SPAN. It may be from different cameras, though. :)

18. I'd say CSPAN--it is promising gavel to gavel coverage. |
|
And no editorializing talking-heads to blather on about stuff.
