Illinois DUers, it looks as if you're getting one hell of a Senator. |
|
I'm watching Barack Obama on the MTP rerun. He is appealing, energetic, intelligent and eloquent. I think he'll represent the Land of Lincoln well in the Senate.

1. Some people have all the luck...Illinois gets Obama and Durbin... |
|
Mississippi gets Trent Lott and Thad Cochran.
You have Ron Blagojevich, we get Haley Barbour.
I am truly envious.

3. but having Obama isnt good enough for some |
|
apparently. Yeah I got the same luck. They'll have Dick Durbin and Barrack Obama while I have George Allen and John Warner, they got Blagojevich and I got Mark Warner, who is a dem so its a draw. He's gonna be a good senator and I think the first black pres.

Anyone who is unhappy with Obama: I'll gladly trade you John "Box Turtle" Cornyn for him and throw in Governor Good Hair to sweeten the deal!

Even though she's one of our less vile politicians (which I realize isn't saying much). But we're keeping Ms. Piggy!

13. Kay reminds me of my senator Thad Cochran....not one of the |
|
moderates like Chafee, Specter and Snow, but also not one of the "mad-dogs" like Lott, McConnell and Hatch.
Hutchison and Cochran join Voinovich, Lugar, Collins, and a few others as rational conservatives.

Cochran actually was a supporter of CFR. Warner is between the mad dogs and the rational cons, and Allen is a mad dog.

|
just knowing now that the republicans will have a hard time finding anyone who will run against the newest star in politics, our next senator-mr obama-. sometimes this state really sucks with it`s scandals and shitty politions but just knowing that we will have the two best people in the senate makes my day. it was a perfect day in northern illinois and obama`s performance on the national stage made it all the more perfect...i wish obama would comeout to waltons tap with zamora aug 8th..zamora is back on bartcop...

16. Honestly, Ditka had scared me the most... |
|
...because as we've seen, people will vote for candidates for stupid reasons! But this was before I'd read all the stuff where he's talking about his interpersonal skills, which I think would have came out and maybe shrunk him down to size.
Obama, on the other hand, is the type of candidate that I see as being able to get people who don't like politicians to vote, and this influence on the turnout should help Kerry as well!

However, I consider our current and future Dem Senators as our gift to America. Both very much in the mold of the late Paul Simon. They will serve us ALL very well indeed!

I'll be looking forward to his convention speech. It sounds like he has the election wrapped up already. Nobody even wants to run against him.

I'm stuck with Sanctimonious and Specter. Moving to Texas next June, though, and it'll be just as bad. YIKES!

To go with our other "one hell of a Senator"...Dick Durbin. I love them both. We are so lucky, and KNOW it! I will never take them for granted. Ever.
