The Repigs are sliming Teresa Heinz-Kerry.
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 10:42 PM by MikeG
She allegedly told Greensburg Tribune-Review reporter Colin McNickle to "Shove It".

McNickle may have deserved it. The Tribune Review is owned by Richard Mellon-Scaife. Heinz-Kerry's complaint is that McNickle lied about something she allegedly said.

Drudge has now repeated this several times on his show tonight and its on his website.

They're working overtime folks.

1. I wonder what the lie is.
We can get the lie story to follow and possibly overtake the "shove it" story.

And bring the Arkansas project into it too.

5. Teresa don't take no brown smelly stuff from Scaife!
Teresa hates Scaife with a passion and this goes all the way back to 1971 when he went after John Heinz running for Congress. She isn't afraid to stand up to him.

I'd love to send her my cane if she promised to play Chopsticks on Scaife's head with it!

I heard the story on my local ABC news station.

I refuse to post the Drudge link.

15. The audio is not all that great but it sounds like she is saying...
...some of the talk is un-American. I can't blame the reporter for wanting a clarification of that statement.

24. What all did he ask? I just heard the "what did you mean by...
...un-American" or something to that effect. That sounds reasonable. Or did he ask "who is being un-American" or something similar. I wouldn't expect her to accuse anyone but some examples would be reasonable to expect.

He was not there to get the truth.

He was there to cause trouble.

10. They showed it on the local news.
He was twisting her words and even PA Governor Ed Rendell agreed that she didn't say what that guy said she did. I have a severe tooth ache so I missed bits and pieces, but she was speaking about the fact that we have gotten away from American values with all of the partisan 'fighting'. Apparently he twisted it and said she had said we were unAmerican. She really gave him hell and later she went back to him to re-hash the whole thing. She was telling him that she never said that and that he twisted her words. Oh, she was fiery. :)

17. AP Story: Heinz Kerry Tells Reporter to 'Shove It'
For what it is worth:

"We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics," the wife of Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) told her fellow Pennsylvanians on Sunday night at a Massachusetts Statehouse reception.

Minutes later, Colin McNickle, the editorial page editor of the conservative Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, questioned her on what she meant by the term "un-American," according to a tape of the encounter recorded by Pittsburgh television station WTAE.

Heinz Kerry said, "I didn't say that" several times to McNickle. She then turned to confer with Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and others. When she faced McNickle again a short time later, he continued to question her, and she replied, "You said something I didn't say. Now shove it."

25. wow
Wow ... she really DID say it ...

Here's the video. This reporter keeps accusing her of calling... something ... unamerican, and she keeps saying, "I did not say that! I did not say that? Why are you putting words in my mouth." Finally, she tells him to "shove it."

http://www.thepittsburghchannel.com/video/3576483/detail.html

Frankly, I'd tell any Scaife-owned reporter to "shove it," as well.

What bums me out is that I've been enjoying being able to say, "Hey, look at the Bush Admin, restoring "honor and dignity to the White House" while Cheney and Bush curse in public, and Dubya (allegedly) flips off teenagers on the campaign trail. Now, I can't say that with nearly as much glee.

"Eff yourself" still trumps "shove it."

27. Does the phrase: "go fuck yourself" sound familiar to the repugs??
It was uttered by a CANDIDATE. Theirs. If it's good enuff for the VP, it's good enough for a candidate's spouse.. and she didn't even tell the guy to fuck off.. shove it is much more polite.

Telling an obnoxious reporter to "shove it" sounds mild to me. If that hurt his feelings, he's probably in the wrong business.

35. The Repukes Will Lock On To This...
The thing they are going to try to lock on to - and it may stick - is that she DID in fact say the line about 'un-american' something. It's too hard to hear what they GUY is saying. But it just sounds like he is asking what she meant by 'unamerican' - and she immediately claimed she didn't say that.

In any case - WOW! She is awesome. Talk about not taking shit. I love her. Unfortunately, this is just the kind of thing that fires up the repukes (a la Hillary's baking cookies comment)

Oh well, fuck them.

Man, what a contrast to the Stepford Bush.

36. Stop spreading their lies
Teresa Heinz-kerry may be the greatest woman in the history of this country. Her example of grace and intellect leaves all of us behind. There is no way that she would say that. Could you imagine either Mrs. Bush telling a reporter that? Of course you can, because they are vile sub-human filth. These lies are horrible.
