Just finished watching 3 hrs of MSNBC coverage of Kerry/convention
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 11:22 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
I don't normally watch any TV, but my friend talked me into it, wanted to show off her TiVo, etc, so I dragged the kid over. The kid played with her dogs and I watched.

So questions: who was that lady with the face like a rat? Sorry, I really don't mean to be insulting I just didn't catch her name but she had a slightly bitchy attitude and five minutes into it I could tell she was a bush supporter. Are "journalists" nowdays really this transparent?

And as for Tweety, I take it back what I said earlier here on DU. I said he needs a wedgie that has to be surgically removed. What I want to add to that is that *I* now want to administer said wedgie. COULD HE ACTUALLY ASK AN INTELLIGENT QUESTION? COULD HE ACTUALLY HAVE MORE THAN THREE FREAKING QUESTIONS??????

What was that shit about anti-war, pro-war stuff he was asking MacAliffe about? (And then Franken?) Terry kept saying we are being pro supporting the troops, you break it, you fix it, but Tweety just kept pushing it. I wanted to slap him, really.

All in all, I thought the MSNBC coverage wasn't TOO bad. Just remove Rat Girl with a bitchy attitude and Tweety and it wouldn't have been bad at all. The story on Kerry and the Vietnam War, I thought, was VERY good. It showed him in quite an impressive light, I thought.

Damn, I swear those talking heads on TV are stoopid. Anyone one of you guys on DU could have done a better job by FAR than them.

So that's all from TV land. I'll now go happily back into newspaper and internet land where I am not bothered by people who ask the same three stupid questions over and over and people who wear a big shit-eating grin while asking things like "BUT BUSH IS SOMEONE PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE A BEER WITH....IS KERRY???"

Oh my GAWD what a PRESSING NATIONAL FREAKING CONCERN.

Seriously, if THIS is the level of discourse we are at, God help us.

One more thing: I USED to be a TV watcher, a few years back. Regular news, cable news, the whole nine yards. After not seeing it for quite some time, it looks even more absurd than ever. If you want to see if I am correct about that, do an experiment.....go on a TV blackout (all news/talking heads/political shows) for a few months. The more the better. I realize now probably isn't the time for you to, but seriously. Then watch it again. You'll be....blown away at how stupid it looks and sounds.

1. lol...I can appreciate your revulsion....
I've stopped watching TV for entertainment purposes a while back. It's just soooooo dull.

I do, however, still watch news and c-span etc. Yet even then I only do so with half an eye as I'm on this computer most of the time.

I find the news alone to be everything you say. It's absolutley Orwellian (and repetative). Little talking heads all polished and primed doing this prescripted thing that is practically meaningless. Once in a while one can get something of value.....it's rare.

2. oh most definitely. Whenever I'm away from TV for a time
and it happens fairly frequently because of my schedule, when I do turn it back on it's the most horrifying thing.

Seriously horrifying.

3. Just imagine having a beer with the shrub
what a nauseating thought.

Besides, I thought he was supposed to be officially clean and sober now? Have they dropped all pretense of shrub's sobriety?

I guess so.

4. It's that bad
I pretty much quit watching news, I watch C-Span live events or reruns of 50's shows. I just can't stand most of what's on TV today. There Franken is, trying to have a serious conversation, and rat face comes up with the incredibly stupid beer question. I wish Al would have just told her it's idiotic, plain and simple. I did like his response to Matthews "concern" on whether we're just going to have al jazeera 1 & 2. Nobody complained when it was all right wing media.
