10. I can just hear the new terror warning from Fatherland Security ...
Edited on Sun Jul-25-04 11:53 PM by gauguin57
"The Homeland Security department is warning that terrorists may use PARACHUTES (when they're not using poison pens, scuba divers and floating coolers) to attack America! We're going to Condition Taupe!"

Tom Ridge was just bragging about how tight security is in Boston ... hey, gang, let's hear it for Homeland Security!!! You put the protesters in a razor-wire pen (tacitly blaming it on the Democrats), but you forget to WATCH THE SKIES!!!!!!!?????

13. bragging? this breach could make him eat those words
If a truly scary and credible breach in security does occur in Boston with all the media midgets in attendance, won't they feel compelled to bash security measures?

30. ... and watch out for those guys in scuba gear...
Is the whole city locked down or are they just keeping an area as a safe zone?
Did the parachutes breach the safe zone or were they just in the city somewhere?

Don't most flights that leave or land from American airstrips get logged in some way?

15. Still nothing on cable news, but it didn't involve any missing
pregnant women that might have been murdered by their husbands.

Unless... it was a Morman guy that was tired with four of his wives and needed to dump them where... hmm....

As STUPID as that sounds, it could actually be US headline news.

... whose husbands may have murdered them. Poor women, minority women, unattractive women ... the media doesn't give a crap what their husbands do to THEM.

20. No private planes were allowed within 10 miles of Logan and
only commercial planes were allowed to land.

So how did these guys jump out of a commercial plane? so we
can count that out.

Then if it was a piper cub or something like that, how come
the guys with machine guns on top of the building didn't get them?

Will Pitt would not joke around like that.

But something does not figure here.

And nobody has found or followed the parachutes to the ground?

Huh?

Sorry that I didn't adhere to the details of our media lust. No sarcasm here. You ARE right about that.

And I'm still in awe of your comment about bumper stickers and cars.

25. rumors are part of the national conversation now
...probably is a rumor.

I would be much more worried about ships coming in to harbor, if I were looking for possible terrorists.

but since we get nothing but lies from BushCo, we always have to wait to get some sort of hint at a truth or two.

31. UPDATE....
A massive search of the area began shortly after midnight when a National Guardsman reported that he thought he saw parachutes descending in the vicinity of the Thomas P. O'Neill Federal Building on Causeway Street, which is adjacent to the FleetCenter. State Police used a helicopter with searchlights and infrared cameras to search the roof of the O'Neill building and the surrounding area but found nothing and concluded there had been no incident.

"There is nothing on the roof," said Boston police officer Nadine Taylor-Miller at the joint information center. "We had an unconfirmed report, but they didn't find any people or parachutes."

34. Oh great...

The convention hasn't officially started yet and people responsible for security are already so jumpy they're seeing things.

I have a horrible feeling about itchy trigger fingers. I wonder -- seriously -- what the rules of engagement for the various security agencies are.
