Dean proved that real Democrats who value civil rights cannot win the nom! |
|
Just figured I'd do a little tit for tat with the anti-Dean dummies. :)

1. Well, I voted for Dean. |
|
But I will be voting for Kerry and it's amazing how little I appreciate divisive, hostile posts like these.

I voted for Kucinich in the primary, having waffled back and forth between him and Dean. I actually spent more time with Dean supporters at MeetUps and the like because finding Kucinich support in this state was nearly impossible. The one MeetUp I attended for him was a farce.
Anyway, I am now thoroughly fed up with the attempts, overt or not, to continue driving a wedge between the supporters of these former candidates and the de facto nominee.

2. Liked that thread so much you had to make one of your own? |
|
I don't get the weird antagonistic attitude of these threads.

7. Yeah, I just figured it was appropriate |
|
I'm tired of getting bashed because of who I supported in the primaries.

3. Dean's time will come. |
|
And if it only comes to this, so be it. He's working within the system to unite and progress (although he's really a Centrist) the Democratic party.
If you don't buy into that, you can still write in Dean or vote for Nader. You can even vote for *. Same thing as far as the results go.
If you ever believed in the good Dr. Dean, you'd get with the program and push for change where it's possible and before it's too late.

5. I understand why you are doing this but.... |
|
did you ever check out Dean's history of remarks on rights and the judiciary? He did appoint conservative judges in Vermont because he wanted judges with "common semse" who would skip those pesky "legal technicalities" that some believe prevent wrongful conviction.
There were several threads that contained his remarks over the years, surprised you missed them. But, in fairness, that was only when he was governing and before he saw the light campaigning in front of liberal primary voters.
I believe he is now a changed man who has lost much of what had made him a fairly conservative governor.

6. "I believe he is now a changed man" |

No argument here. Glad that you finally see it that way. What most didn't get about Dean, and still don't, is that he had a very independent streak that allowed him to govern based on his opinion of the correct position versus the Party position. I think that you'd find very few Dean supporters that agreed with him on everything but appreciated his courage of convictions.
As far as 'changed men' go, I hope that the "get over it" candidate, that now uses many of the Dean lines re:Florida, has also changed due to convictions.

then you didn't hear what the others were actually saying. Put the "get over it" in context and the fact that Kerry has been forthright about stolen votes from the earliest days of the campaign. There is nothing NEW about it. In fact, Kerry was putting together an electoral legal team for November a year before the first primary vote. Not that many noticed or gave him credit. Some of us did.
I believe that Dean supporters changed him. What started as a cynical political move to play to liberal voters finally became a mission to actually understand the left he used to scorn so easily. I am thankful for that change because we need more aggressive personalities supporting lefty positions.
