2. He also made fun of Kerry's pitch. |
|
Saying, it "came up short," and wondering if it was a "bad omen." Prick. On the other hand, Heidi Collins, the NY anchor, countered with "I think the catcher was too far back." Bill then said, "We'll look at the tape." To which, she replied, "Yes we will."

...that is sure to go on at the RNC. If they hear it from us every day of the RepubliCON convention, they might start paying attention to it. And yes, we should scream. The candidates need to stay above the fray, but WE DON'T.

15. That's all fine and well but. . . |
|
the average, undecided voter out there isn't going to know that they're receiving their news filtered through these GOP mouth-pieces. That's why it's important that we call them on their bullshit every single time we see it. Yeah, even the clueless get that Faux is the official channel of the GOP but the vast majority of people believe the Repug lie that CNN, MSNBC, and the networks are "liberal" news organizations. While we can turn our sets to unfiltered (and fair) coverage--they don't know any better and that's what we need to be worried about. Undecideds are going to decide this election and we need to get every single one of them we can on our side. And with the press in bed with the repugs, it's essential that we fax them, call them, write them, protest long, loud, and clearly so that they have to do a better job of providing balance.

I just heard Bill Hemmer on-air say that he is "awfully concerned" that there will be "Bush-basing" at the Democratic convention. He repeatedly tried to get Bill Richardson to promise that there would be no "Bush-bashing" at the Democratic convention. Will Mr. Hemmer be equally "concerned" about Democrat and Kerry bashing when the GOP convention rolls around? Will he try equally as hard to get the head of the GOP convention to promise that there will not be any Democratic or Kerry bashing at their convention?????? While Mr. Hemmer is certainly entitled to vote for whomever he chooses--I would like to see him at least pretend to be a fair, and inpartial journalist on air. Someone needs to remind him that is what journalists are supposed to do--something he seems to keep forgetting as this is not the first time that his biases have crept forth on the air and I'm guessing it won't be the last either. I used to be a huge CNN fan but this kind of coverage just makes me flip the channel as fast as I can.

So if people do criticize Bush during the convention, even a little, they can all cry out about how Democrats broke their word about Bush-bashing and how they're such pessimists and how they're so consumed with hatred blah blah blah?
Kinda like how some of GOP talking heads exaggerated the Edwards bounce, so when it wasn't as high as their "predictions", they could claim it was a failure...

I have watched Bill Hemmer this morning, who says he is "awfully concerned" that there will be "Bush-basing" this week at the Democratic convention. Why should Bill Hemmer care - isn't it his job to report on what happens, not try to influence what will happen? Being in Boston, I have heard lots and lots of stories about the Republican war room and plans to trash the Democrats during the week. Is Bill Hemmer "awfully concerned" abou the republican war room? He is trying to get republicans to promise they won't be negative about Kerry this week?

|
These bastards deserve it both barrels from every Democrat all week long. This is OUR week and our time to take back this country. We have the right to say what we think and feel and it's time to unleash them.
The GOOP is scared shitless of us. They know we're not only here, but we're organizing and energized. These assholes have no template on how to counter us other than distortion and smears. OK, so let's give it back now.
This week should be a spotlight on GOOP lies and hypocricies. Bashing? How can it be when we use their own words and lies? Were they bashing when they first used them? I thought that was "leveling the playing field".
Here's hoping Al Gore unloads, Clinton smiles like a Cheshire Cat and reminds everyone of an America not long ago where people had jobs, savings and a future, Edwards showing the honest and populist side of the party and then Kerry putting out a vision of a future without the lies, deception and selfishness of this regime.
Of course anything the Democrats do this week will be viewed critically and any little shit...like that Kerry pitch or Teressa telling a Mellon-Scaiffe shill to "shove it" (I wish she'd had told him to Chenny it) or a dozen other non-stories that they'll try to blow up as some image of either Democrat disunity or creating some major disruption. Screw the media...shine the light.

I'm with you -- here's hoping someone at the convention brings it up in a speech -- "So from now on, in honor of our Vice President and his example of decorum in the Senate, whenever one of us loses our temper, we'll tell the other guy to 'Go Cheney yourself!'".
Hmmm. Michael Moore would be the perfect person to do this... He's not giving a speech, but I'll bet he gets interviewed on air once or twice... Michael, are you listening?
I'd *love* that meme to get out there...

In the interest of fairness, please require your spokesmodels (Hemmer, Woodruff, Blitzer, et al) to wear their Bush/Cheney buttons on air. Some people might still consider your network to be involved in the business of journalism and they deserve to be informed that CNN is owned by the republican party.
Thank you.

35. Hemmer...The Poster Boy To CNN's Demise |
|
I've never liked this hairspray empty suit...back to the very first days I saw him. This was in the mid 90's when the network was sold to Time/Warner and journalists were being shown the door and the pretty faces started to pop up...Hemmer was the first.
His bulging Adam's Apple always drove me to distraction...then his attempts to get into Daren Kagan's pants. Ever since I've never considered this goon to be a lucky fratboy whose good looks are the only thing that puts him where he is.
Remember, all these pretty faces on CNN are wired into a control room. While on camera they're more wired into their earpiece than anything else. That's why you'll hear a question asked and you can tell the empty suit isn't even listening to the answer. I'm certain there are several on CNN who get their words almost verbatim from that earpiece and whomever is connected on the other end.
The other night a couple of us were discussing what we missed about CNN. To a person we all said the following: Bernie Shaw. He was the counterbalance and the class of that network for its first 20 years. Now it's a tabloid shill...pandering to perceived ratings and jumping to the corporate's best interests...always.

GILLESPIE: "Oops, too late!"
It's shocking to me that he'd lecture the Democrats while we've been flooded with some of the most negative campaign ads in recent history, replete with Kerry-bashing to the point where he's painted as some kind of anti-American commie. Where's Hemmer moaning and bleating about the negative tone of the Bush* campaign?

His every pronouncement reeks of dumbness. Even his eyes have all the depth and intelligence of two plastic shoebuttons.
He's absolutely not smart enough to be sinister (like Novak.) But he's got that self-satisfied thing going on in spades. (Righties seem to have cornered the market on smug.)
I remember how pathetically self-impressed he was as an embedded "journalist." He developed what I think he believed was a manly swagger. Like he was trying to channel the Duke. Except he came across more like a six-year-old who just got a remote control tank for Christmas, and is out in the back yard "playing Army" with the big boys.
Or like a puppy turning himself inside out with euphoria that he's going bye-bye in the car. I wonder how hard it was for the real sodiers to keep from slapping him while paper training this wanna-be?
That's when I had to stop watching CNN in the morning. Haven't been back since.
