What happened to the 527s? |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-26-04 09:53 AM by Peachhead22
Like MoveOn.org?
A few months ago MoveOn.org was running some pretty good anti-Bush commercials. WEith some effect, IMO. Some news programs were saying those groups would be of some significance this election.
Now nothing. I haven't seen squat from MoveOn.org or similar organizations for months. What happened? Did they already run out of money? I seem to remember news stories that said they had raised some pretty substatial amounts of cash.

1. Connectucut May Not be a Battleground State |
|
I'm in Maryland, and I haven't seen any either.
But I hear if you live in OH, MO, PA, or some other contested state they're all over the airwaves.
Can anyone confirm?

2. I get email from them 3-4 times a week |
|
Looks like most of their efforts lately have been GOTV drives, various sorts of 'house parties' for political documentaries, 'Call Congress' alerts on legislation, etc...
They've definitely been active, but perhaps not so visible to you.

3. The Kerry Campaign, despite the mutterings of nabobs, |
|
has been doing a pretty good job. Moveon would be silly to get in the way of all that particularly with the donations to Kerry and Co. doing so well.
Expect them to roar back post-convention.

Saturday. I am in Ohio. I don't know who it was by, but it was anti-Bush and absolutely hilarious! There were people at a podium saying why they were for Kerry or Bush. The pro-Bush people had backdrops behind them saying things like Big Energy Company Corporate Contributer. The pro-Kerry people were saying sane things like a better economy, etc. I have also seen a lot of Kerry ads here too. Hardly an Bush ads, but then as soon as I hear his fake twang, I mute or change the channel.

5. I think August will be a big month for 527 ads and DNC ones |
|
I heard that JK will not be running ads that month. They said it had something to do with "catching up' with the republicans since they have so much extra time to raise money. So many of the 527s have planned on airing their ads around that time.
