Seeya CNNservative...A Viewer's Guide
I haven't tuned to what I've now dubbed CNNservative today and from what I've been reading my viewing will be very limited. Instead may I suggest a couple of viewing alternatives for political junkies.

First, my "main channel"...the cable one that I'll use as a "point of viewing reference"...an honor long held by CNN is now going to MSNBC. With Tweety at the helm, I know it's gonna be total spin and beltway pontificating, but Ron Reagan will be one of the regular commentators and there will be reports from Keith Olbermann as well. This is a far cry from the Wolfie/Judy/King/Schneider shilling that will be going on. Even Faux could be more palatible.

For REAL coverage, nothing beats C-SPAN. The joy of their coverage is how passive it still remains...the camera capturing rather than creating the story. Which leads me to that stupid CNN booth on the convention floor. Note to the DNC: Stupid move. I already was seeing how they were using this as a counter-stage to the one where the real action is happening. While our speakers attempt to discuss serious issues on the main stage, in the back of the floor, Wolfie will have his lights blaring high, the music pounding and walking around shoving his mike in delegates faces. May there not be any type of floor fight as you know Larry King will be over there to offer them one of his Nitro tablets and take a call from Tokepa...hello. I don't know whose idea this was, but it's gonna be one I sense will be regretable.

Lastly...about the "bashing". For me...BRING IT ON...This regime won't hold their fire and has already spent millions on spreading lies and distortions about Kerry, plus have hundreds of hate and Christian radio outlets spewing their propaganda...for the next 4 days I won't be able to get enough!

BTW...for another alternative view, for those with satellite or digital cable, check out News World International. Right now they have James Carville on saying he expects a lot of emotion coming out of this convention and feels real good about what's going on. I do, too.

To my fellow Democrats...this is our week to feel good about being Democrats and to embrace all the great values and ideals we stand for. View the people attending the convention...this is a true snapshot of this country...and the amazing diversity that is the our party. It'll be a vast contrast to what we see in New York City.

Cheers!

1. Changing the channel now
to MSNBC. If that doesn't work, I'm going to just turn off all of the TVs and emulate Suzy Homemaker or Betty Crocker for the rest of the day.

3. I am reaching the same conclusion. CNN is sick. I have gotten a
"trial 2-month extended cable contract"... I have been checking all the cable "offerings" and I will be glad to stop it at 2-months. Actually, one of the few things I really appreciate is "The Daily Show." I will miss that.
This trial might end unilatirally on my side by just turning it off.

4. Gotta Watch 'Em To Know 'Em
I have been reading your posts since you got the extended cable and your outrage at what you've been seeing. You're right to express what I, if not others, feel about what we're seeing and hearing. If anything, I think there's a group of us here on DU that have been calling out the biases we're seeing, and realizing this "I'm not the only one thinking this". For that I say thank you.

I'm setting up a command post here...LOL. I've got a bunch of blogs already open (always looking for more to check in on)...and channel hopping and web surfing. Oh, another interesting alternative tonight will be coverage on BBC...surely they'll have a unique perspective and that's available on PBS stations in many markets.

I'd enjoy the free months...take a breather...then I'm sure they'll offer another freebie...just keep your blood-pressure in check...LOL.

Cheers!
