The speeches tonight brought me to the conclusion that...
the "meme" that republicans have a cancer in their parter in the form of the neocons and bush, can be a very effective tactic to use to unite the country. I thought that the first round of speeches did very well in trying to bring more people in.

It's kinda like the person who has a party, and invites a known rowdy person (plain old repubs) who brings their rowdier friend(neocons and bush). We can put up with the rowdy friends, but their buddies have to go.

Jimmy Carter is a wonderful man. I was only six when he was elected. Now that I have heard him speak as an adult, I was enchanted. Yes, the rest were good, but he was so eloquent. He had the air of the distinguished elder statesperson with so much wisdom and experience.

3. Carter is the one person I put on a pedestal as a hero
Well, ever since Glen Campbell was arrested and I had to drop him...

Seriously, I was 11 when Carter was elected, and as a southerner in the 70s there wasn't a lot to be proud of. Carter showed me that someone who sounded like the people I knew could be intelligent, honorable, and ethical. That shaped my life as much as it shaped my politics growing up. And he's never disappointed me.

His speech was eloquent and statesmanly, and given his unimpeachable integrity, it carried twice the weight of any other politician's.

a personal hero of mine. I was a delegate for him at my senatorial district convention in Houston, Texas, and was a first year law student when he was elected. He will always be my president.

6. I respected Carter a lot...
..I was 13 when he was elected.

Struck me as an honest, straightforward, hardworking and intelligent man. With sensible values rooted in the common good. You're cold, leave the heater alone and put on a sweater. Turn off the lights when you leave the room.

5. Clinton still is a very charismatic and savvy politician
He basically laid out a strategy for Kerry and the Dems to win the elections.

8. Look up Decency, Honor, Integrity in the dictionary
And you'll see the picture of James Earl Carter. My hat is off to you, Mr. President.
