So, if horror of horrors Bush is re-elected...
... And horror of horrors, the draft is reinstated, which I think it will be. I really look forward to asking every parent and acquaintance who whines to me about it, "Well who did you vote for?"

The answer to those who say "Bush" - "Well, you asked for it. Don't complain to me, you as much as put your kid/friend on the chopping block when you voted for him."

6. Aye Canada myself
Still unsure if I fall under IRR, so if that maniac wins again, my ass is goin north.

But for real, to me its not about who will be President. This election is as Carter put it, and I'm paraphrasing here, "for the soul of our country." This is where Americans show if we have any redeeming values left, because if that war mongering idiot gets office another four years then the country I gave the best years of my life to is gone.

7. So what will you do friend
If Kerry is elected, and he reinstates the draft? After all, Kerry is fully committed to the Iraq war, promising that more soldiers and money will be thrown into the fray. And Rangel has already submitted a bill reinstating the draft. Are you going to hold these people responsible too, or are you going to give them a pass just because they're Dems? Continuing warfare is a sure thing no matter who wins, and the draft is also a pretty even proposition no matter who wins. This is what happens in the rush for ABB, we get Bush lite, with minimal differences.

9. Good point

But Kerry was also in combat situations, he knows what war is really like up front and personal (espicially in one of those dam boats where you have nowhere to hide). I think he would put more thought into sending Americans into harms way than doofus would and has, espicially if we had a draft.

I really don't see a draft happening. The benefits of an all volunteer force far out-weigh those of drafting and conscripting people who don't want to be in. Espicially with the amount of money the military spends to train you up, they want to keep you and not know they are going to loose you in a short time.

13. If Bush is re-elected, our former allies will actively UNITE AGAINST US
That to me is a pretty big difference, and a pretty big factor re re-institution of the draft.

You might want to research the Rangel bill a little before you bash it - it is a pretty strong political statement about sending poor people to fight rich men's wars.

8. Thats what I told my mom when she had to sell her furniture
to buy meds..Mom, you voted for Bush. I wasnt mean, but she knows now. She is completely furious, and wont vote at all this year.
My brothers will vote for him, and one of my sisters. Why? because they are the haves. Nonetheless, they havent had their jobs outsourced yet. 2 of my brothers are about to lose their sons to Iraq. I am going to sit back and wait. Just an FYI..both of my brothers avoided Vietnam.
as for my little brother, who is still enlistment age, and is voting for Bush, he wont speak to me because I told him to enlist. Hes a chickenhawk.

11. There was a great piece in the early 80's by Mike Royko
Where he played the same meme back to a woman he knew who was complaining about cuts in her son's college aid programs. He replied, "did you vote for Reagan" to which she said, "yes, but...". He answered "who did you think he was talking about when he said he was going to cut programs?"

Priceless. I miss his wit.

14. I don't look forward to another 4 years of *, OR a draft...
I never said I did. What I do look forward to, if either of those atrocities resurface, is telling all the * lovers that they brought it on themselves.

15. I'm going to Canada under ALL circumstances.
Every nation or political system has a lifespan. It is born or thought up, it lives and maybe prospers, then it declines and is discarded or dies.

Anyone who believes in the immortality of the US and Market Capitalism is delusional. Did you think you lived in some sort of "Good Guy" version of the "1000 Year Reich?"

Never happen. Everything dies.
